Come on guys, no fighting... I respect that you either love the 5m or hate it. I didn't do this swap to please anyone, I did it because my friends and I thought it would be different, and we had a free motor and shell waiting. Tanya no disrespect to you, but coming from a mk2 owner for the past 7 years of posting on celicasupra.. I thought you would know some things, I guess not... Like I said I will let the motor do the arguing ;)

What things are you referring to? Your friend up there said I "REFUSED" to help you. Funny, my chat logs don't seem to agree with that, nor do my PMs on cs.com. I'm sorry I can't give you all your answers but I tried to help where I could and give advice, even though it's quite OBVIOUSLY not wanted.

When everyone is bashing the 7m over the 5m are they talking about the GTE or GE. Because when I bought my 92 the GE in it had over 250k I then drove it for another 75k delivering pizzas and driving it like a douche bag. It finally Rodknocked when I hit rev limiter in a parking lot trying to drift with low oil.

I can see the point of bashing the GTE it sucks before you fix the factory issues. IIRC the 5m and 7m are only 1 generation apart. What didn't Toyota do to the 7m that they did to the 5m that makes it so bad? I don't see Toyota taking a step backward, hence a progression of better engines. 5m<7m<1j<2j

Good luck with the swap, I hope you achieve your goals.
The problems with both the 5m and 7m can be boiled down to improper torque and lack of proper upkeep.:nono:
As for me, I will keep my 7mgte in my "PIG of a car". The old rule " there is no substitute for cubic inches" applies to both NA and boosted motors. JMHO

I don't think Push is doing the swap because he thinks the 5M is vastly superior to the 7M. He's doing it because it's weird and pretty much free. A 5MGTE mk3 is way better than another mk3 sitting on stands for ages or rotting in someone's back yard under a tarp...

No, I didn't studder, I said exactly what I meant. Go troll somewhere else.
Youre the one trolling you dumb fuck! Are you blind ? Did you not see the sarcasm smile. This was my idea to swap a 5m into this car otherwise it would be in the junkyard. My 2 cents and when the swap is done you will see what its capable of. My work speaks for itself.

Unacceptable in any way shape or form.

This is my only warning for the rest involved in this ongoing trainwreck, abuse other members and you're gone.

everyone on this forum can see the obvious that tanya and poodles are just bashing this thread for their entertainment purposes,,, they should be delt with as well.
this is a build thread, no off topic. , just look at the first 2 posts,
this thread was supposed to be a positive thing, and those few have ruined that,
all i have been doing is pointing that out.

never abused anyone, stating the fact that these others have ruined this thread just because it's a different swap, "5m in mk3", those few members shouldn't be allowed to post here., , i mean i hope i dont get banned for saving a rust free mk3 from going to the junkyard, thats what we did here,

they just shouldn't be allowed to ruin other peoples build threads thats all i care about,

How is it "ruined"?

You do something different expect criticism, if you can't cope with that post elsewhere maybe fluffybunny.com....

EVERYTHING I do is "different" and many people have had their say in my threads, what I don't do is get all pissy and defensive I just continue doing what I do and let my work speak for itself and explain my reason for doing it my way.

Eventually the thread will get back on track, I may have missed the meeting where you were made a staff member and I don't appreciate you telling me how to do my job here.

Nowhere have I "bashed" the swap. Only stated the fact that it's going to be grossly underpowered in stock form, not bulletproof like others think, and definatly not the easy swap you see it to be. I wish him the best, but being different is never ever cheap.

You said wiring will be easy but it's one thing to get a motor running, and another to get everything else working as well.

I dont understand why people cant get over the fact that a 5M-GE is less prone to having issues than a 7M- GE or GTE. Its just a plain fact.

As for all the negativity in this thread, I'm really let down that this sort of dribble goes on in this forum too.

The original poster put his disclaimer up in the first post that people might not like it, and part of the motivation is that its just different.

He has also stated, and its quite a fair fact, that after a few 7Ms dying as he had this motor lying around, and it does have a better chance to hanging together, he is putting it in.

Its not going to cost him anything really.

After stating all these facts in his original post why cant everyone make the mental leap and stop with all the bashing and stating obviousl facts he has already adressed.

Sorry guys but I'm finding it really annoying, and this sort of stuff makes people leave forums, and then we dont get to see the cool, weird, and wonderful.

Its not like he is telling us all our 7Ms are crap and he is going to put us all to shame with his motor or anything like that

Back in 1985, my college roomate(yes- I'm THAT old) had a brand new 84 Supra, and he had to replace the valve stem seals in his 5M three times over 25,000 miles. Was that a common issue with 5M's? I ask, because I don't know.

LMAO This is quite the controversy! I guess when I do a wacky swap, I'll just wait till it's done to post it up ;)

That said, I like what you're doing! In for the finished product. I like things such as this that will post a real "wow" factor when you pop the hood.

Great idea. Can't wait for the finished product!
