Alex,
Good choice on swtiching to 1JZ. May I suggest, while you are at it, swap out the twins for a single setup. It will be a higher initial cost but will save you some headache and some unnecssary/unwanted headache down the road.

:taking notes: uh huh... Learn from the best! =D

Good luck with the swap. Most JDM motors I have seen have spun bearing within the next thousand miles or so. But good luck with the 1J

My 7M's a JDM and it hasn't had any problems except for the one's i've created for it. But they're not engine mechanically related!

Sent my deposit to Driftmotion Garage today. I've never seen $1,300 disappear so fast. :aigo:

I know it's money well spent (sort of), and I'm breathing a little easier now that the wheels are OFFICIALLY in motion. 7 weeks from now I will have the whole swap paid for in full. It can't go by fast enough.

While we do have a great public transit system here in the Bay Area, I'd rather be sitting in traffic in the Supra than riding on a train filled with people. On the ride home, I feel like I'm in a damn cattle car. It's no fun.

7 more weeks. I just keep telling myself it's only 7 more weeks.

Alex, is Big A doin the swap for you? And it only costs $1,300!? or is that ur deposit?

That's my deposit. 1/2 of the price of the clip now, the other 1/2 when the clip arrives. Then it's stripped and prepped. When I drop the car off, I pay the remainder of my bill, which will end up being $3,400. All totalled I'm spending $6,000 with Aaron. Ouch.

Like I said, money well spent.

Oh damn! Yeah, well spent kinda, but thats why i've always done my own work! Well, for one cuz i'm a technician, but aside of that I couldn't pay someone that kinda money for all that work

I probably could get it done for less, the clip is only $2,600. The labor and additional parts (such as new seals, gaskets, t-stat, spark plugs, etc.) comes to about $2,900. I thought it was a tad excessive at first, too.

But then, I realized that EVERYTHING is being done by someone who has done this countless times before. Considering what goes into a proper 1JZ swap, the cost doesn't really bother me that much. Aaron charges what he does, and like many other people on this board, I know that you get what you pay for.

Consider that the wiring harness has to be extended, motor mounts modified, power steering lines modified, A/C lines modified, new accelerator cable installed, intercooler and piping put into a car that never had it to begin with, yadda yadda yadda. It's a HUGE thing. Not only that, but everything has to be taken out of a 1/2 cut in the first place!

Considering all that, $2,900 isn't really that big of a deal to me. :icon_bigg I should stop complaining already.
