The day started right where we left off yesterday.

As we were busy with cleaning, prepping, and assembly a familiar face arrived!

Fellow factory sunroof driver cnewingham showed up ladies and gents! :icon_bigg

With most of the assembly done, Robert wants to get it in the car and fire it up...

(Before anyone asks what it is, I call this motor Barnacle Bill because of the strange calcification on some of the parts [see alternator in pic below]. We joked that they were barnacles from the motor's time at sea. :biglaugh: However everything spins freely and GSpeed has a good warranty so... :dunno:)

Back to getting it in the car...

But first...

I'd say it's so clean we could eat off it, but there's still much more cleaning, painting, and what not... :nono:

Here we go...

It's in!!!
Robert shows his sign of approval!

Working with a lift was a close second to sex with a supermodel! Well, not really but I've never worked with a lift before so I was like

We were under the car for a while doing the usual stuff, but it was getting late and we had to get going. But we mocked up our covers and took a couple of parting photographs...

Robert is going to get some more stuff done throughout the week, and I will be back down asap to try and finish so that I can drive to the big SoCal bowling meet Saturday. We got a lot done, and I was pleased.

I tried to take an end of the day garage shot, but it was too dark. You'll have to settle for this because this is how it looked...

Scotch-Brite_Heavy_Duty_Scour_Pads-resized200.jpg

Urbano had me tear down my entire 2j to bare long block, then made me scotch brite EVERYTHING for many nights at the shop. waterneck, alternator, inatke plenum, intake manifold, TB, tensioner, turbo pipes etc... and each piece i wanted polsihed or chromed HAD to get scotch brighted too. He told me to scrub till it looks "like new" before i could send it out! i spent hours and hours till my fingers blistered and my hands were numb! it payed off though!

what was my motor back in '05

Thanks for the love guys. Vegas next year is a done deal! I hope to take home a trophy of some sort but I have a lot of work ahead of me in order to do on that!

Yeah Chase, we got medieval on it after you left. It's close, but not quite there. I'd say that we're 80% done. I hope we can finish up by Friday night. Hell, I'd sleep down in SD Friday if I had to if it meant making the meet. However I don't think Robert wants to work until all hours. I can't blame him. It's my fault that it took so long to get the car down there. It's too bad I live 93 miles away and I work so much.

Robert is so awesome guys. Not since Mike Urbano have I had this much fun working on a car! He knows what he's doing and has fun doing it.

Nick, Scotch Brite is cool, but the force is strong with this one. I took Robert's wire wheel to some of the parts, and they got better, but still barnacled. :3d_frown: I care, but not much. Once all of the accessories are on (especially with the fan clutch set up) you won't see the barnacles.

My Bomex front is thrashed. I hope it can hang on until I'm ready for paint. Robert has an authentic Gracer, but I'm not sure I want to change the complete Bomex look. It's either that or I might be calling Nick's buddy at CarFashion for a Bomex replica front sooner than later.

Stay tuned folks...

For those that don't know, Robert is a freaking whiz in the shop. In anticipation of finally getting my car down to the shop this weekend, he was doing some prep and saw that I needed a new clutch cable. The dealer's price is ridiculous and unfortunately 935 didn't have any in stock.

Well, living in the MKIII capital of the world (eat me Florida! :biglaugh: ) has it's priviledges, and so I reached out to the homie Aaron and sure enough DriftMotion had one in stock! I offered to drive to DM and pick up the parts to save on shipping, but Aaron told me to save the gas, and hooked it up with Free Shipping! SoCal FTW!

Supras don't have clutch cables they have lines.

:ugh2: Umm... Okay. Clutch cable... clutch line... Driftmotion calls it a full length Clutch Hose. I don't know what to call it. :dunno: I needed it and Aaron had it in stock.

Thanks for looking! More pics and updates coming soon!
