I havn't really seen a positive review yet.

Cnet is like blah:
The good: The Apple iPhone has a stunning display, a sleek design, and an innovative multitouch user interface. Its Safari browser makes for a superb Web surfing experience, and it offers easy-to-use apps. As an iPod, it shines.

The bad: The Apple iPhone has variable call quality and lacks some basic features found in many cell phones, including stereo Bluetooth support and 3G compatibility. Integrated memory is stingy for an iPod, and you have to sync the iPhone to manage music content.

The bottom line: Despite some important missing features, a slow data network, and call quality that doesn't always deliver, the Apple

It's the best portable media player ever. It's possibly the most fun we've ever had with a handheld device. It browses the Web like a champ. Yet as a voice phone and a messaging device, it's a loser. The iPhone is full of contradictions.

Most ppl are like, all the issues will be fixed in updates. Did Steve Jobs design this phone, or did Bill Gates?

HOLY EDITING BATMAN!

Ric: I love how you cut off the bottom line, lol..

Here it is in its entirety:

"The bottom line: Despite some important missing features, a slow data network, and call quality that doesn't always deliver, the Apple iPhone sets a new benchmark for an integrated cell phone and MP3 player."

It was also given an editor's score of 8 out of 10 - which is excellent.

If you are going to try to support your argument with a quote, don't do it with a partial one, it makes you look like an idiot.

OK, so if were not calling each other out on "selective editing", here is my version of the same reviews:

Amazing how easy it is to support your argument when you remove things that contradict it. Nobody ever said the iPhone was the end-all be-all of phones. But let's keep an even keel - even some of the iPhone supporters here have agreed with you Ric - the phone wasn't conceived or designed as a business-class phone, and therefor cannot compete at all in some areas.

Partial information is false information.

My friend just told me it takes her 7 steps to make an outbound call on her Iphone. Yes, 7 menu selections til you can dial a call.

Also the screen icons are small and it's very easy to press 2 of them at one time.

one of my best friends has one, and loves it. Its not meant to be a smartphone, so he really doesn't care that its lacking in some of those areas, he's just happy that he doesn't have to pack around his phone and ipod now.

Flop????

The post-iPhone hooplah has finally subsided and now we get to look at the (estimated) hard numbers and determine if Apple won the day. Bloomberg reports that Global Equities Research claims Apple moved 200,000 iPhones on the first day and over 500,000 through Sunday, meeting the expectations of most analysts.

Full Story: http://blog.wired.com/business/2007/07/apple-iphone-sa.html

500,000 x $550.00 (averaging price of 4gb and 8gb models) = $275,000,000

Cha-Ching! -- What a flop...:3d_frown:

It's a technical joke, the only reason its sold any, is a) fanboys b) the shiny brigade c) the must have socialites.

It's actually quite capable of doing many things very well. Far from a technical joke. I take it you never had a chance to use one.

You guys who feel the technical ability is a bit lacking should not knock the iPhone as much. Other manufacturers will have to catch up to the iPhone's attention to design and UI to compete. This will have the effect of improving the whole market.

Again, you make the case over and over and over again that shinyness makes it superior to other phones. I for one think that the FEATURES are important, not the 'wow' factor. Sure its pretty - but when every review site out there is ripping the iPhone a new arsehole, you might stop and think 'maybe they have a point'...

For 600$ you can buy a laptop almost brand new or a high end one off ebay slightly used

It will play DVD movies and with a voip plan from time warner you can sue it as a phone or tether it your laptop on a EVDO verizone system that is over 100 X faster internet speed then the current iphone setup

I hate ITUNES it sucks and screws up your computer and takes it over and is hard to remove.

I will stick with anything PC fiendly that is faster and gives me more capability then the Iphone

And all i have to do is put up to 4GB of MP3s on my SD card into my phone then it plays it with media player So wow my phone already plays music what a rip off scam.
