Sure its pretty - but when every review site out there is ripping the iPhone a new arsehole, you might stop and think 'maybe they have a point'...
dugums said:The only point that I have been trying to make is that the iPhone is not a POS. If I hinted that the iPhone was superior in any way, it would have to do with styling and UI.
Many posts stated that the iPhone was basically a failure. My posts have been trying to explain another perspective. The iPhone can be useful for many, many people. While you guys think it is basically just a "pretty" phone without capabilities -- it is not so cut and dry.
I have agreed with many of the things the anti-iPhoners have said here: It does lack some capabilities that other serious smart phones offer. The main point is that, the iPhone is not targeted at a hardcore business user. I don't think that can be restated enough, as it's at the heart of this argument.

The I-Phone lacks in areas that some of these other phones, which cost much less, feature. That being said, for professionals on the business front, this does not make sense, but the price is certainly aiming it towards those professionals who make a decent amount of cash. That makes this another "Gimmie gimmie" item that looks nice and costs more than it should. I get angry enough when I see a 10 year old with a cell-phone; can you imagine my rage if I see a kid with one of these?
If you guys want a good smartphone, the best reviews I have seen lately were for the T-Mobile Dash and the Cingular 8525. For other providers, I am not quite sure.
dugums said:I don't know why the price is becoming an issue here. Clearly, the iPhone has sold big numbers in just a short amount of time.
Apple should lower the price so it is more in line with phones that have similar features? That doesn't really make sense. If a company can make a product that has high sales figures AND high demand, they can charge whatever they think they can get for them.
Yes, they will have to deal with people thinking they are overpriced, but if you can't understand why, you shouldn't be arguing.
I absolutely agree with many of the things you just said. But at the end of the post, you came right back to the same thing everybody else has been doing: comparing the iPhone with a business-class smartphone.
It was not marketed or sold as such. You are saying that it's price puts it in this category - that is false. What about $800 chrome nokia's? What about Bang and Olufsen phones? If you compare it to phones that sell based on design, the apple is an absolute bargain with a lot more functionality.
How about finally making a 2-button scrolling mouse in 2005? Winner!high psi 1jz said:Apple has sucked since they invented the confusion of the century in iTunes, making shit much harder than it has to be.

OneJoeZee said:^People never learn. So many people think they're a smart guy now and will make a quick buck off of the newest gadget. It worked with XboX360 'cause no one was really doing it that much then. Those that did make a decent profit. Then people saw others do it with 360 and thought they'd be smart guys too and tried it with PS3 and that failed when every other person was selling one on ebay.
Why did they think iphone wil be any different. :stickpoke
