As far as the taper -that is what NPT is. I think the easiest thing for you is weld up that hole and start again or weld on a bung.

welding cast iron isnt a fun option.

id either use a helicoil on it, or get an adapter such as 1/4 npt to 1/8 npt.

also thought id mention, be sure it is 1/8 npt and not 1/8 pt.

npt is 27 pitch, and pt is 28 pitch.

i think his point was our cars idle oil pressure is very low stock. 4.3psi. so when we are idling on MOST cars it will be pretty low...so hes saying if you set it to a low number that isnt ZERO lol it would go off whenever the car is just idling after warming up.

scroll down to "metric adapter kit". how about those? you can retap with one of the standard metric sizes, and it has a 1/8 NPT thread on the inside.
thank you sir. This is pretty much what I found at Lowes in iron and brass. I think Iron would hold up better to the heat. The problem if found is what I was thinking. The probe isnt extended quite as far with both adaptors as it was with just the one supplied with the guage. I dont know much of the probe has to be exposed to be accurate??

this is exactly what im saying. The guage would be going off or warning you everytime you came to a stoplight. Our systems are high volume low pressure so oil pressure is anywere from 5psi to 60psi or so. Kinda hard to have an effective warning with that range. These would work well for my Yukon as it always has 40psi or so even at idle.

on a GTE you're not going above 40PSI stock...

if you keep your A/C on (which bumps your idle) you'll be around 10PSI...

even setting it to zero would help...

Thanks good info. You can set it to 1-2 psi -that should work eh ??
Sure you could. But if you are at anything but idle and you notice your oil pressure is low because your guage warned you at that low a psi, then I would think that would be to late anyway as your motor is probably trashed.

The gauge wont stop the problem, you have to realize, they can only do what they can do... At least you have the option to set the warning that low, some gauges you cant...

Better a gauge to warn you of 0psi the moment it happens than you're pinging engine to tell you after you've had no pressure for 20 seconds.

If anyone is running thier oil pressure gauges, I was wondering, can you use the stock location for the for the pressure sensor? *the one on the side of the block*

I love all your sounds.
Jake, My guy told me, if I get the correct die that matches the threads on the block you can run the die over the threads on the oil sender (mine is super close to the same size.) The threads on the block are a little deeper, so the die will just slightly reshape the existing threads.
I did NOT do this yet. Soon I will. Just throwing it out there.

BSG: If we dont use the stock location, where would be the next best thing? I knwo PS sells an oil filter adapter, but but it makes me nervous using something like that, for leaks and clearance issues...

Anyone using the sandwich plate? I think that might be what you're talking about Jake. I'm the same way, don't know how I feel about using that. Opinions on it?
