I have a warrant out for me? I don't suppose we have any lawyers here....

I never expected any kind of miracle from the lawyer I hired.

I understand that but at the same time Im sure you expected SOMETHING for what you paid him. Hindsight is always better of course, but given what he did (or didnt do) The money given to this guy would have been better served kepping you guys afloat while you were "inside".

But Im sure you know what you feel will satisfy you.

Just for a sense of balance here, let me relay a story. The last time I had to hire a lawyer I paid a retainer of $2000. For that I was kept in constant updates for 2 months while we worked out the details of my case. Records were pulled on my behalf and he spoke with the DA on 3 occasions prior to my turning myself in. When I turned myself in, my lawyer let me park my car in thier private lot in Portland (I lived 3 hours away), drove me to the courthouse and did all the talking for me in front of the sheriffs. He then arranged for my bail, and was waiting to pick me up when I was released drove me to a hotel and helped me check in. He then met me the next day for arraignment, represented me in court and arranged for my case to be dismissed due to lack of records (this was regarding a 22 year old warrant for fleeing jurisdiction). After all was said and done he refunded me almost $600 from the retainer and provided me a very detailed reciept for his time and expenses.

THAT is what a lawyer should do, and I personally wouldnt have been satisfied with anything less. As far as I have read (granted I dont know the whole story, only whats been posted on here) the court fucked you in the ass and while you were bent over the Lawyer decided to take his turn. Of course, thats just my opinion.

Every bit of this is still just hearsay, until I find out directly from Polak what the actual story is. This 'telephone' game of passing information from one person to another is, in my opinion, a large part of the breakdown in communication.

I don't feel it unreasonable to expect at least one message from my lawyer, however, especially after the arrest had taken place.

I don't KNOW that there was no service. According to the courthouse, there was no black and white - but I'm perfectly willing to hear Polak's side of the story.

Speaking of sides of a story, I wanted to go ahead and clarify a few things:

1) I understand Laura's needing to vent, but I do think she took things a bit too far with the bashing. Without getting into all the specifics, let's just say there was a lack of communication all around the house while I was gone.

2) I'm very proud of Laura and how she handled this situation. YOU ALL AIN'T GETTING MY TURBO THO!!! HAHAHAHA. *ahem* Seriously, she did a hell of a lot better than I honestly thought she would do, given the hand she was dealt.

3) Monkey sex = good.

4) I was pulled over for 65 in a 60. Even better, it was a pair of undercover vehicles. Vehicle 1, in the front, just blipped his lights at me, and told me over the intercom that 'Next time, it'll cost you' when vehicle #2 whips out and pulls me over anyway. That's what got me put up. Contrary to vehicle #2, I wasn't driving like a madman. How 'mad' can you drive a 90hp '88 Accord, anyway??

5) I'm getting shit straight. The PC Shop (my primary income) is closed from today until August 23rd, but I'm getting my business license renewed here in the City of Alachua to let me get back to work for myself. In 24 hours, I already have 3 computer jobs lined up, and I've got a lot of spare parts that I'll be selling off. I may have lost my part time job with the East Gainesville Initiative, however. I will know on the 31st what my status is there. I should have everything straightened back out within a month. I still hate Sumter County, however.

6) Mike for President.

Seriously, jail is HELL for any kind of intellectual. I do have some interesting stories I could tell of my little stint there, though, if anyone's interested (lol)

Alright, alright.

So first I spent 7 days over at the Alachua County Jail. I have to say, ACJ was by far the best run of the three jails I got to visit. Also, it seems there is a bit of a drug problem in Gainesville - practically everyone in there was arrested for possession! Very large jail, we had 92 people in one pod there (but these are HUGE pods)

I also had first appearance there, which was simply the judge telling me they were awaiting transport. Get this - on the transport, we went from Alachua County, directly south 1 county to Marion County. Sumter County is the next county directly south of Marion - Alachua to Sumter is usually like an hour and a half drive. IT TOOK 17 HOURS TO GET ME TO SUMTER COUNTY!

We went from Marion to Brevard to Volusia to Kissimmee to Port St Lucie - and then transferred me to a van coming from MIAMI! Go pull up a political map of Florida - you'll see the convoluted routing I took. Also saw business opportunity there - the transports do not have any sort of up-to-the-minute status indication of the jails. We sat at some jails for over an hour, since the jail didn't know they were on the way until we got there, so we had to wait for the inmates to get located, brought up, dressed out, shackled, loaded, THEN we got to go.

Yeah, 17 hours literally in a steel dog box designed to hold 6 people, we had 8 back there. Very little ventilation. It was not a ride I would willingly take again!

I'll have to tell you about my Return to Sumter a little later. 4 outbreaks of MRSA in our pod, 38 people in a 12 man pod, etc. Fun fun.

Now you know what kind of community we have here. Stick around, help out when you can, make friends, and MOST importantly....realize this ain't no troll hangout like several other import sites I've been to.

Meet anyone interesting?

I met a nice young kid (18yo senior in high school) in Bakersfield County Jail who was accused of murdering his girlfriend. He was the star football running back and by all accounts was probably headed to the pros. A couple of years later I found out he was convicted and I think got the death penalty. He was a nice young soft spoken kid...its always the quiet ones.

I met a lot of people that thought they knew a lot about a lot of things, but I more or less shrugged most of it off.

Right now, my house is a wreck. Driveway is a mess (just cleaned it off) and my grass/bushes are all completely overgrown. Hell of a hot day down here in Florida, lol. I need to wash/detail my truck, as well. I've also been sorting through all of my computer wares, so I can prepare to sell them. I've got 12 Optiplex GX150 systems here I need to sell off as well, so I'm busy as hell!

I also learned that people seem to think hygiene is optional in jail. I had to quickly dissuade them of that notion!

Ain't that the truth. From the time I've spent in jail, I seen this one guy that I just wanted to beat over the head in hopes of making him smarter. This guy spewed nothing but lies and BS every sentence. And he NEVER shut up. :nono:

Touche! It really irks me, to know that I could have flat out lied about knowing my license was suspended, and all I would have received was a ticket.

So what did I really learn? Telling a LEO the truth will land you in jail, if you know you did something wrong. Deny deny deny!

*ninja edit* Oh hey, Mike, I think you'll appreciate this.

Want to know the kind of people voting in the Presidential Election? Got into a HUGE political debate against a 20 year old kid whose entire political argument was "Bush is evil - who would you vote for anyway, Obama or that other guy?"

I kid you not - had was badmouthing the competition without the slightest clue even who the competition was, or what his/her views may be.
