when i got ready to buy the car, my fiancee was like "what kind of car? whats it look like?"

first time she saw it then heard it run, she never wanted to shut it off.

most people i know complain that i have a supra that runs daily! there cars do this and that and im only bitching about cooling issues.

her parents think its ok but wont ride in it. they dont like the price per part / wait time / availabilty of anything for it. neither do i actually.

biggest complaint i get is wheres the handle and why dont your speedo work?

plus they have to spent way too much money just to make their car faster than our stock supras.... buy their civic... buy their 'jdm' yada yada cost more than my car alone and still have less horsepower engine and... no not quite fast enough yet! ......... buy either their nitrious (good luck with that sir) or turbo kits (if they ever use the right injectors or fuel pump.. or tune the car)... their 30$ "coilovers" (ebay it they are out there.. scary)....

meh, there are guys around here w/ k20's in their civic hatches (a guy at my school (highschool) has a gutted 92 hatch w/ that motor :aigo: it's fast as shit 2.0 litre all motor runnin flat 12's in the 1/4 and he races it at VIR... there's also a camo 93 hatch around w/ a 1.8 litre type-r motor (naturally aspirated, no power adders) making 235 whp :aigo:, he burns the tires in 2nd when he hits vtec... it's no joke, there's another 93 hatch too w/ a b20 (2.0 litre motor from a crv) w/ a b16 vtec head on it, and he's just as fast as the other two civic's... given the type-r hatch costed a TON of money (all sortsa spoon parts), the b20 hatch and k20 hatch costed less than my car has costed me thus far... and i still won't beat em, in any sort of race (unless maybee we roll from 40 on the highway)

lol man reading all these makes you realise how supra's are so widely acknowledged as.

my common things i get are, "I love the old supra shape!" "Is it turbo?!" and normally before that one its "Is it manual?!" :( lol but seems either way it goes.. at the end of all the questions is... "Can i take it for a spin!?"

Even tho its a automatic N/A most people love it. oh oh and i forgot this one.. love this one.. "OMFG DOES THE ROOF ACTUALLY COME OFF!?!?!" :naughty:

Meh. It's still a FWD econo-box. I'm not willing to give up what the Supra has to offer for the cramped interior and the JDM-tyte power-on understeer and torque steer that the hondas have.

My roommate has an '01 integra, and it's not a bad car. Its quick-ish if you beat on it hard enough, parts are cheap, and it's good on gas. But the interior is so cramped. He and I are both around 6'4", he's 215lbs and I'm 235lbs, so we're pretty big. Our shoulders just about touch in his car, but in mine we have a good 5 inches between us. I let him drive it (in an attempt to get him interested in a MKIII) and the extra room was the first thing he noticed. For big people, the Supra is a perfect fit.

Then he drove it, and his comment was "oh God...I could get used to this torque!" He really just needs to admit to himself that he needs a MKIII--he keeps talking about making his car fast; all I have to do is whisper "but it'd still only be FWD" and he realizes what a waste of money it'd be for what he really wants out of a car.

Oh--and one more quote:

"This is by far the best body style the Supra ever came in" <-- Cop, as he's giving me a speeding ticket.

Reactions I generally get include:
What is it?
The top comes off?
It's an '89...no way!
Do you want to sell it?
And every beat up Mitsubishi Eclipse I see tries to race me.

I had someone about 2 weeks ago that pulled up along side me in a Caddillac (CTS??) - dunno what it was, it was just wierd seeing a caddillac pulling up at the lights in the UK - and the person driving it looked out the window, sneered at me, i scowled back - they wound down the window and said 'i'll race you, but it'll be no challenge'. So while he's at the lights gunning whatever planet eater is under the bonnet, i'm sat there quietly idling in my shiny N/A Manual, and as the lights hit yellow, i punch it off the line and get clear the other side of the junction before he had a chance to even get 50 feet :D

No challenge? He's the one that wasnt a challenge ;)

I would have given anything to see the look on his face as his nice, shiny 2005 car faded into the distance and became a blip on my rear view mirror :D

Still strange seeing a road-barge in the UK though.....

Ahaha, these comments are too funny. I've gotten the "Is it twin turbo?" questions, and the "Is it manual?" questions, but I tell them it's not twin turbo, but it's manual. It's sad to see beat up Supras, then the owners talk crap about yours when it's clearly better, that's how it is at my school. There are two owners that don't know SHIT. One is owned by a (hope no-one gets offended) "Gangsta" mexican kid, he looks @ mine, I look back at his, and I see the peeled paint, the stickers, blah blah blah and laugh. Some people told me that he was talking crap about how I "spray painted" my sawblades, when I actually used wheel paint, what a noob. :biglaugh: And when school lets out and the parking lot is wet, he'll do donuts which I think is funny. I confronted him about that, and he said "Well, I don't wanna burn my tires, but still wanna have fun, know what I mean?", I came back with, "No, not really!" :naughty: Then on the last day of school, I did a stand still, him and his friends all watched with their jaws dropped, good stuff. Anyways, sorry for the write-up, but that last part was just about my school experiences.

My old supra always kinda looked like crap and I only got like two nice comments on it ever.
The one I have now seems to draw alot more positive attention.

Generally, girls seem to not really care either way until they go for a ride in it. Unless they are girls who are into cars.

Generally most guys I know personally respect it and like certain aspects of it at least, but wonder when i'll ever stop dumping money into it.

Most guys I don't know well either love it or insist that some other car is way better.

I've had a couple of people ask me how much I want for it when i'm driving it around. When I get on it, it usually draws attention because it doesn't sound like many other cars around here.:icon_bigg

One day before school Matt and I were sitting in our cars talking and they were both running. The gangsta cam up with his homie and was like "you wanna race?" I gave him a little open atmosphere bov action and acted all excited and then was like "no." It was pretty funny, he revved his auto and then took off all fast and goofy to his parking spot. Then Matt and I proceeded to laugh at him.

My friends tell me to build the motor on my Civic and sell the Supra.

I have always loved the mkIII Supras since I was little so I tell them no. My Civic is faster but I love the Supra. Now if it could only run for longer
