I'm currently piecing together a whole new set up with an HX35.
I'm going to fabricate a front facing intake manifold, and remove at least two feet of piping. That should increase my throttle response nicely.
I'd like to do exactly what NTRA08 did with his Turbo manifold (CT26 to T3 adapter). I'm in the process of modifying my manifold right now, but I've still got a lot to do as far as the turbo set up. I still don't even have a wastegate or blow off valve, and I can't finish my manifold until I know what flange to use for my wastegate.
Plans?:
-7MGTE
-HX35
-FFIM
-24x12x3 Intercooler
-Wastegate at 14-18lbs (still doing research, but I'm aiming in that range)
-Stock 440cc Injectors (for now, until I run into a problem)
-MK4 TT Fuel pump?
-Coil-on Plugs
-AFM delete/Megasquirt?
-MHG/ARP Studs
-Ported head
There may be some things I'm forgetting, but I'm aiming for around 450 whp/tq. Hopefully more Torque than Power. If I'm unable to afford Megasquirt, then I'll just use my Lexus MAF, and run an SAFC. But, either way I'm convinced that I could make good power on a reliable tune.
I'm currently on a 60-1 CT26 which has proven to make over 400whp easily, but unreliably. My turbo seals blew after 2000 miles (on the turbo) running 8psi, and the condition of my turbo is just getting worse and worse with time. The thing I love about Holsets is the fact that they're seemingly bullet proof, and even if one DOES manage to blow a Holset, it's not too difficult to find a rebuild or replacement. I'll let you guys know how the build goes, but it won't be for a while, that's for sure.
