No I think it comes down to there's a time and place for everything and your attitude that drifting on public roads and spinning into intersections is idiotic irresponsible and dangerous and means the rest of us will be profiled.

What most of you are talking about is not drifting.
i dont consder some dumbass my age in a FWD honda losing conrol and luckly regaining before he hits something, drifting. drifting is an art and much as a sport and like all arts and sport they need one of 2 things to be good 1) natural talent some people can just drift. 2) Skill/practic some just work hard to be good.

anyway thats my 2 cents

edit: forgive the spelling errors i wrote this at like 3 oclock last night

ma70witboost, seriously its getting lame. that was not nicely put... that was barely legible. Sure im a fan of getting my tail out sometimes, but anything that makes a car go slower is just plain stupid IMO.

^ did you miss my post about drifting the supra at orlando motor speedway?

Yes I saw that but it's overshadowed by all of the following stupidity!>>

Im particularly fond of streets that have been redone.... you know, the ones that are almost complete, just need the pavement... gotta love nice smooth dirty streets Any of you drift with out power steering? At the moment mine doesn't have either power assist or a/c It'll get a/c later on but im ok with driving it with out power steering... its not that bad really... I've just never tried drifting without it. Opinions?

I learned in my last 240... I used to drive my little automatic SOHC around and just fishtail corners... Then I got my DOHC 5 spd and I was able to get sideways earlier... I try it at the track, and I ended up understeering into the wall in 3rd. Im not really fond of tracks... Most i've ended up doing in the streets is spinning out. Traffic stops, I str8en out, and im on my way looking for the next intersection to slide through.

only when it rains... Id be the first one at the light in my 240.... spin the bald back tires in 1st, shift to second, and kick the clutch at the median.... the car would get sideways, id countersteer and combine with either flipping up the head lights and flashing the high beams, or throw the hazards on. It was fun to get the thumbs up or to see peoples reactions.

Nice thing about wet weather drifting is that its easier to break loose, its alot quieter than dry weather drifting so it attracts less (police) attention, and to a degree, it requires more skill than even gravel drifting. Traction is constantly changing from either a spot on the road that is more or less dry. Its a bit more of a challenge.

Ok, im not as wreckless as youd think... You see streets and know how to judge if its good or not... For the most part, i've been the first car up at a light, get to second at the median, and clutch kick. Most thats happend is i spin out, stop traffic, and continue on my way... also, you find streets that are empty.... i wanna get the whole countersteering thing down at the moment. i know dry is more high speed so im trying to get it down slowly then progress to the next level, feel me?

That 240 with nice suspension set and strengthenning like tower bars and sway bars, will beat the supra no question for drifting well. Add in the sr20det be it red top or the wicked black top and the 240 will out-drift the mk3, as long as the driver isn't as bad as Sean Boswell was when he slammed that S14 into everythign inside that parking garage while trying to drift ahahaa.

sorry dont talk this the wrong way im not trying to get anything started but do you watch D1 ???? drifting comes down to skills not weight. weight has a part but it still comes down to skills
look at D1 they drift soarers, mustangs, skylines, etc. etc. all these cars are as if not more heavier then the supras

240s are just good plat forms to start from like the ae86 but i like to jump in head first

I doubt those mustangs and skylines and that muscle car falken uses are stock dude. Sorry to say it but they weigh a lot less. They are purpose built drift machines.

Street drifting is totally nuts. The video's of it I've seen from Japan are nuts, and the fact that kids here want to go out in the middle of the day and try it in traffic is even more insane.

I don't really care if you wipe out your own car, but I have to tell you that if your sorry ass runs into my car, everything you own will be mine. Now, and in the future. (It's called civil court and I'd fry your silly attitude there for as much money as I could get.)

If you have no insurance or assets, then I'd get my own insurance to cover the loss under UIM, and they would come after you for the money they paid out.. (Want a nice 300,000.00 bill on your head for life? That's what my insurance UIM limits are.)

If nothing else makes you wake up and take notice, the prospect of paying off some huge debt for the rest of your life should bother you. (No more Supra because you could not afford one. Get a bus ticket and go to work, you have bills to pay, but you get NOTHING. Just the bills, and it takes many years of asking "Would you like fries with that" to pay off a insurance settlement. (Do the math, 10.00 per hour into 300,000.00.... oh, and they are going to charge you intrest too dude.)

That being said, I like the idea of having fun in your car. Just do it when there is nobody else around. Or get to a track and have fun. (not very practical for 99% of us.) Find a new housing tract, just when they have paved the streets, but don't have any houses built yet. Great place to have fun, and since you can see the whole place usually, it's easy to have one person watch for the PD, so you don't get busted either. :)

Good luck. And stop drifting in traffic.
