I learned in my last 240... I used to drive my little automatic SOHC around and just fishtail corners... Then I got my DOHC 5 spd and I was able to get sideways earlier... I try it at the track, and I ended up understeering into the wall in 3rd. Im not really fond of tracks... Most i've ended up doing in the streets is spinning out. Traffic stops, I str8en out, and im on my way looking for the next intersection to slide through.

only when it rains... Id be the first one at the light in my 240.... spin the bald back tires in 1st, shift to second, and kick the clutch at the median.... the car would get sideways, id countersteer and combine with either flipping up the head lights and flashing the high beams, or throw the hazards on. :D It was fun to get the thumbs up or to see peoples reactions.

Nice thing about wet weather drifting is that its easier to break loose, its alot quieter than dry weather drifting so it attracts less (police) attention, and to a degree, it requires more skill than even gravel drifting. Traction is constantly changing from either a spot on the road that is more or less dry. Its a bit more of a challenge.

Yeah man public streets not cool.I have practiced in big abandoned warehouse parking lots.Id never even think of doing it on a public road thats dangerous to you and others.Anyways i prefer the clutch kick,i kick it and lift my foot up (like i steped in dog crap). And then feather the gas while countersteering actually i felt very stable in the mk3 but you cant whip it around like a ae86 but i liked it.When my supra gets back on the road im going to visit my secluded spot and practice:naughty: .PS keep oil in that pan make a better pick up or weld a sump or youll get good ol rod knock.

LOL IJ, I used to drive my old N/A Supra with bald tires in the snow. Back before I knew a thing about cars...

I won't knock sliding around on the streets. However I do recommend doing it when no traffic is around. Not only is it less dangerous but there is less chance that someone will get angry about it. I have been known to "fish tail" or "choku dori" down the freeway at about 90mph with some easy brake and steering input.

"Drifting" in the rain is much easier. It's like slow-motion. Everything's smoother and you can break loose and swing it around much easier. On dry you have to give it more power or force to break them loose and everything is much more jerky and sensitive. Drifting in the rain is 10x easier.
Drifting in public traffic... :kaboom:

Its like slow motion because you are going slow. Real drifting is about going fast. Playing around on the streets in the rain "fishtailing" and "power sliding" is not drifting.
Sorry guys. I know I am not making friends right now, but seriously. Real drifting is about going fast and having good grip. Don't belive me? Go to a race track and try and keep up with people who have been driving racetracks and are using quality tires.

Don't like racetracks because you had a bad experince? Guess what. Your going to crash on the street too, and maybe take someone else out with you.

If you are bent on doing this stuff on public roads, at least drive out to the boonies in the middle of the night to do it.

That's why i "quoted" the word Drifting. Fishtailing and burnouts and whatnot in the rain are fun, but I agree, not drifting.

I got 4 tires free of charge from my work tonight.
I wish I had a tire mount in my garage. I'd be going through tires every few weeks.

Ok, im not as wreckless as youd think... You see streets and know how to judge if its good or not... For the most part, i've been the first car up at a light, get to second at the median, and clutch kick. Most thats happend is i spin out, stop traffic, and continue on my way... also, you find streets that are empty.... i wanna get the whole countersteering thing down at the moment. i know dry is more high speed so im trying to get it down slowly then progress to the next level, feel me?

No you are exactly as reckless[/] as I thought. Even worse actually. In fact, I am seriously surprised that you are wreckless.

I don't know where you live, but if I where spinning out IN TRAFFIC here in California, U.S. I would be seeing jail time. It doesn't matter that you are first at the light. Doesn't matter if you are last. THERE ARE OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD. You are unfairly involving other people in your juvenile stunt driving. Explain to me how that is any different from a drunk driver? Someone out on the road, clearly not in control of their own car, endangering the property and physical well being of others.

I recommend going back to square one. Go sign up with your local autox chapter and start practicing. You will get your ass handed to you by a middle aged woman driving a stock Miata. Don't think "grip" driving has anything to do with drift? You had better believe it does. Try it on a race track and you will see.

In an earlier post I called you an idiot. Sorry, I take that back. But you are making idiot decisions. You really need to step back and look at what makes a legitimate motorsports enthusiast / participant and how that differs from rice boys on the street. I can't stop you from doing stupid shit like this. Thats the only reason I suggested going out to the boonies to find empty streets. I have found empty streets. Here is a hint: go someplace where no one lives.

Out here in California drifting has been getting a lot of heat lately. Its getting hard for us to get track time because people are beginning to associate us with hooligans and street racers. They are old people and don't get it. They see the "import" cars and all the tire smoke and think we are just out there assing around on their racetracks. Now with the new Fast and Furious movie coming out the cops are going to be profiling for "drift" cars. Now there are going to be heaps of fanboy ricers buying up all the autotragic 240s, Supras and RX-7s and e-braking around town. Guess what, YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE KIDS.

Ok, well for one im not really driving anything. And your words have been taken into concideration. The only bitch is that the only track to go drift @ here in florida is in orlando. I dont have a car, let alone time to be driving up there just to spend a few hours a month drifting...

NashMan, what did you mean by "i find rain scary to drift in cause you never knwo what you driff will do"? i imagine that by "driff" you meant "diff"(erential). What kinda diff you got on your supra? Turbo supra's come with 2 way Mechanical LSD's from factory. lock on accel and decel. I know that the amount of lock is dependant on how the clutches are aranged but the car should pretty much pull equally from both back tires... I think that the 89+ MA70/JZA80's both come with a 1.5 way torsen differential. lock on accel and some lock on decel.
