hey this is probally a stupid question MA70 but in your mod list it says you have an upgraded ct-26 with a 50 trim? i thought the stock was 54 trim?

correct me if im wrong

Not sure exactly on the details... The turbo was upgraded when I got the car. It was rebuilt at MIC Turbo and I was told that it has an upgraded turbine... that its bigger to pull more air in...

Im particularly fond of streets that have been redone.... you know, the ones that are almost complete, just need the pavement... gotta love nice smooth dirty streets :D Any of you drift with out power steering? At the moment mine doesn't have either power assist or a/c :( It'll get a/c later on but im ok with driving it with out power steering... its not that bad really... I've just never tried drifting without it. Opinions?

I did it once without powersteering...well all of the ps fluid had leaked out. Had no problems with it at speed...it was when I had to turn between 0-10mph that BLEW!!!

i like a combination of using the e-brake to initate the inital drift and then power over for subsequent drifts.

i do agree that the weight of the mk3 has been exagerated in that because it weighs so much that it wont make a good drifter. the contrary is with the additional weight it makes the car very progressive and you studied 9th grade physics and play by those laws you can easily drift the mk3.

The heavier the car the longer it takes to stop sliding. Ultimately that reduces the cars maneuverability.

Like I said earlier, the MKIII is not a bad choice, but if it where competitive you would see them in pro drifting. But you don't.

Since when does a Supra own drag/top-end? I have yet to hear of a Supra pulling 1.2 second 60 foot times. F-bodies do it all the time with slicks and a mostly stock suspension setup (meaning it's still a solid axle setup with lower control arms, a torque arm and coil springs.). I would like to see a Supra pull 1.4 seconds with the IRS it has.

Topend? Please, the long gears of an LS1 T56 and a equal HP LS1 will hang just as will if not better up top.

I used to be with ya. I loved Supras, Skylines etc. Thought they were far better than crappy V8s with no topend. Then I got a couple years of driving experience and rode in a stock GT Mustang and realized what my Supra was missing for low-rpm torque. I have a friend with a 2000 WS6 that we recently put headers, exhaust, a lid and a BMR torque arm on. That thing is lots more alive then my 7M ever was.

About drifting, you didn't put the brake option into the poll? I am not a drift fanatic but my ex-roommate was and so were his friends. What about brake drifts? Thats what I would almost always do, much like an e-brake drift except with the service brake. Also, if you have ever tried to slide any of those typical drift cars you'd realize power to break loose is not what the Supra lacks, for they have less. The real advantage they have is inertia. They are lighter and smaller, they can change direction quicker. They can break traction and re-gain traction faster.

Thats why im kinda hesitant to get a 240 later on... hell, thats why im so paranoid on drifting the supra... i want to find a nice open area, good for drifting but nothing to run into... not an easy task

Yeah, I was thinking about throwing trail braking into the pole options along with a few others but the truth is they are more for track use (at times) and not many people get a chance to use them. My mistake for not throwing it in.

I agree with you on the maneuverability of a 240, RX7, Miata, BMW, etc. compared to that of a heavier bodied Supra. But then again, If Soarers can do it, why not the supra? I know that it requiers more skill on the drivers behalf to be able to handle the heavier bodied MA70 and still be able to hang with the lighter chassis drift vehicles, but I dont see why it can't be done. All thats needed is for someone to step up. Im currently voting myself into that one but im still far from D1 or even Formula D class yet. :(

Do it. Stick with your plans and get to the race track as often as you can. Try and do this stuff on the street and your gonna crash at some point. Or get arrested.
Don't know about where you live but here in CA its hard to even own and drive a modified car, let alone drive fast anywhere but the track.

No replacement for displacement. And a V8 vs inline and however many cylinders you have do not affect "top end".
