Kenny, ever took apart an R154? That is your next project. I had to do mine since a "rebuilder" took out a few parts, saw some locking pins fall out and got scared and left it halfway, not even half, he only managed to take of the tailhousing. In doing that he lost one locking pin, but I had a spare R154 which I got it from that and ordered one from the dealer.

It was good to rebuild it and see how everything works. I am doing another one right now. I have new bearings, synchros, seals and washers along with all the Marlin Crawler goodies.

Take a look at my build thread and you will see.

Yep. Mine is all Marlin Crawlered up! I wish the 1>2 shift was a little smoother; but, that's the sacrifice of the upgraded shift fork and syncros. Mine needed all of the needle bearings too. ~$60 bucks from the dealer and all fell back in to the tighter side of spec.

I LOVE not having to worry about it holding up! :D

Hey Kenny, I think these are going to look a little better.

Finally have them boxed up and ready to go.

O, nice. I didn't know you built your gearbox. I probably missed a part in your thread then.

I'll be painting them black. Yesterday and last night, we had 70 mph wind gusts and today we are still at ~50 mph gusts. There are two things you don't do in wind like that. Pee or Paint. ;)

I've always wanted to re-upholster the seats; but, I have lines on a stock set that are in great shape.

Lol. I learned that one year when someone was spraying a wood fence near my car (before I had the Supra). I had drops of varnish on it for at least a year! :: angry :: Anyhow, the rotor hats will look sweet in black.

Yeah re-upholstering them would be a little costly. I've looked into that already. The replacements look like new. Great find.

Yes they will! Again...no rush. The car will be up on jack stands for a little while yet.

I don't want to mislead anyone. I didn't do it myself. A friend of mine is a transmission guy so I gave him $300 to do it. :)

Varnish speckled...? I'm glad it wasn't your supra. Someone would have one UN-CORKED DUDE on their hands if that happened to my soup! ;)

When I was looking in to the re-upholstering thing, I had planned on going with either two shades of gray or gray and black. And yes...it's pricey.

Yeah, I was a little intimidated; but, after diving in to it a little bit, it's not that bad.

That $300 saved me a lot of time though! :)

O, okay. The next gear box I am doing, I will be making a stand for the main shaft and counter shaft to make pressing the bearings out much easier. That was the hardest part for me.

Your needle roller bearings were out of spec? Mine were fine and were in spec, on the tighter side as well. There was only one bad bearing, the main shaft bearing but I still changed all of them.

Lol. Yeah it was a Caravan so it improved the look a little! :D It would definitely be a different reaction if it was the Supra.

The two-tone look is really nice. I especially like the black/grey combo. I also thought about adding seat warmers. I will do all that one day!

Pics of mine are somewhere in this thread...

When we cracked mine open, we found metal inside. A couple of chips; but, mostly dust. After careful inspection, we couldn't find the source of the metal. So when he took the stacks apart was when he found that the needle bearings needed replacing. The scary part is that it measured within spec even with worn needle bearings. So, in my findings, even if measurements are within spec, the needle bearings should still be replaced. After all, you're right there anyway. Spend the $60 bucks and have some peace of mind that you'll get another 100k+ mileage out of it.

In total, my transmission had three bad components. The 1>2 Shift Fork, Various Syncros, and the Needle Bearings. It is now equipped with everything that Marlin Crawler offers.

No wind today so I got my rotors painted. The bad thing is that I ran out of Flat Black. I went ahead and hit the rears with a couple coats of Semi-Gloss and will finish them up with the Flat Black tomorrow.

I know, I didn't see any metal shavings. Acutually, there was nothing wrong with my R154. It made no noises, shifts were smooth, I could honestly use one finger. I decided to rebuild it after going for big horsepower on my 1JZ.

I just ordered some locking pins and c-clips from the dealer, so I will be putting back this R154 and keeping it as a spare. :)

Wow, I'm surprise of the turn out of the rotors. It looks nice, seriously. Sucks you ran out of paint though lol.

Thanks! Yeah, I thought they turned out pretty good too. I picked up some more Flat Black today. They look much better now! :)

Good job Ken. Can't wait to see them all bolted up. Should look sweeeeet!

Thanks Ron. I agree...they should look pretty nice all bolted up. Soon! :)

Today I got the two rears painted flat black and also the last caliper. The rotors look much better in Flat!

And one of two shipments arrived today. This is the Front Brake Hardware Kit. The rears should be here tomorrow.

Strange my dad bought me that same air tool kit for x mas like 10 years ago lol.

That is funny because my dad bought that one for me for Christmas! WEIRD... ;)

Ok. Out with the stock end links and in with mine. After pricing out end links, I decided to make my own! I made four altogether.

(I actually have enough material left over to make one more set. Maybe even two more. In case anyone is interested! ;))

Thanks! I cut the spacers out of Aluminum, the washers, nuts/bolts are all SS, and everything is Grade 8.

I can't find my receipts right now so don't hold me to this price; but, I'd sell a set of four for somewhere around $160. If someone is seriously interested, I'll get an exact price.
