figure I'll share mine. got the calipers for about 70 shipped. rotors were about 130. new seals and boots were 25. new braided lines were 54. new washers were 17 for qty10. powder coat was about 100. silver matalic with clear. and just threw on 8 dollar brembo decals. hub centrics were 12. see pics.

how do you like the ebc red pads? i got the porterfield r4s for mine and they're great pads can handle lots of heat and have decent initial bite but holly crap do they make dust! it wipes off easy but its a little intense how fast my front wheels get dirty. have the same pads on the back but they don't through off as much dust cause they're smaller and do less of the braking i'm guessing. figured id through that out there cause i didn't mention it in my earlier post.

My only peeve is i get brake squeal early in the day for a few feet but great after that, i have the slotted powerstop and ceramic pads also which i thought shouldnt squeal this early. Did anyone else run into this? And yes i did grease the calipers where the pads slide on as well as the pins.

What kind of pads and did you break them in?

Cheap pads squeal easily even ceramic.

The red stuff are better than the porterfields. Brake dust might even be worse. I removed front and rear red stuff and put factory pads because I got tired of cleaning them.

i got powerstop ceramic pads. the breakin I do is highway speed to about 30mph with moderate pedal about 5 to 7 times

those are autozone pads or something. not really high quality so noise will be a problem.

on a scale from 1-10 (1 being not much and 10 being mind blowing) how much do you think it increased from the stock brakes?

I have slotted rotors with ebc green stuff and I'm pretty content with my system if it was anywhere near the arizona bbk than I might opt for this instead

Really? I thought autozone was its own thing as i have used autozone gold ceramic pads on other cars and have never had a problem. Ive never used powerstop i just saw them when on rockauto when i was getting the brake setup and thought the ceramic would work well. Ive seen ceramic wagners squeal as well which is why i didnt go with those. I just assumed all ceramic material pads would work great. Which pads did u go with? I see beck/arnley and centric offer OE material which im not sure what it is i just know metallic or semi metallic squeal like a pig all the time

Stock mercedes pads or ebc would be my vote. The stock mercedes pads are very good and rarely squeak or squeal. My kit ended up on my buddy's car with the pads that came with the calipers since they were like new. They wor perfectly even after brake boosting with over 600hp.

Not all pads are created equal. Even Toyota sells a cheap ceramic pad. There junk tho. Major issues with noise. The oem pads destroy them but are double the price.

Ahh i see then. Ill have to contact my buddy at mercedes then, but would they leave alot of brake dust like the ebc's? Never used them, ive just read they shower your rims with brake dust

Any good pad will be heavy with brake dust. The mercedes pads are not as bad as ebc

No that this is relative, but I got the CobraR calipers to work as well. It's a bit more expensive but I was curious to see the comparison. I will say, there is a quite big difference in unsprung weight as they are 100% aluminum. Got them powdercoated the same time I did the MERC brakes. I used the 13" Cobra rotors. If anyone is curious I can give details for how to modify the caliper to fit. I'll be doing a full comparison. Im just waiting to do the ABS delete on the other car with the cobraR brakes. I'll be using HAWK HPS pads though.

Which style have people been using?

I have been asking around at local junkyards for these calipers and they all keep asking date of production. After some research there is a pre Production (12-3-2001) and post production (12-4-2001). Does any one know which set goes with which production date?

What are the differences between the the pre and post production date if the ones pictured above are not correct.

You need the top ones which should be the same as the s500. The lower ones are for a base model with smaller rotors.

Not sure why you had to trim the caliper down and also multiple use of washers. I think 5MM washers on each side should have done it and along with the 13 Inch rotor instead of Nissan 350 Rotor. But them brake lines you mentioned, I may have to give them a try.

why you didn't just use what hvyman recommended and other member added to make them work as he intended i have no clue.

1. centering rotors off the lugs is going to leave the rotor not centered at all causing vibration and crappy braking cause rotor will be too far out ward then on the opposite side sit to far inward.
2. using that smaller rotor with those calipers im almost positive you have a ton of pad over hang. not good.
3. one side different from the other should ring a bell something isn't right.
4. i hope you used some high grade washers and bolts or you risk the bolts loosing torque or snapping. i used old 7m head stud washers worked great only had to use one per bolt and bolts HAVE to be grade 10.9 or higher.
5. stock brake lines works fine i have the goodridge braided lines and it worked also.
6. and um no they wont work on any car that has a cobra kit for it. they have the same pattern as a mk3 not a cobra. thats why you need a bracket to fit cobra calipers. so if any cars have a bracket to fit a mk3 caliper then they would bolt to that but we all know nobody is swapping to our crappy stock brakes.

like really you shouldn't be making videos where you are going to get people that don't know better to do things to their car that can kill them.....
