I can't believe it's been several months since I've updated this thread! I've been working on the Supra, though not as much as I would like since I moved into a new apartment.

Pics of the new apartment with a garage for the Supra:

Installed NA valve covers:

Converted to a NA PS reservoir. Before:

After:

Removed the water temperature sender from the upper radiator hose to the back side of the water neck (before the thermostat). Drilled and tapped a 1/8" NPT hole in the extra space:

The AEM ECU harness I ordered for the MAFT Pro/AVC-R install:

aem_harness.JPG

All wired up and ready to install:

aem_harness_done.JPG

What the engine bay looks like as of today. I finally installed the PWR radiator along with a thorough cooling system flush. Also note the nasty red/pink catch can hoses are gone (only thing NAPA had in stock at the time).

bay_in_progress.JPG

I'm currently in the process of wiring up the MAFT Pro and AVC-R, and I hope to have a 57 trim CT26 installed by springtime for some fun! I'm hoping to give it a safe tune at 15-18 psi and hope the stock (retorqued) head gasket holds up. If/when the HG blows that just means it's time to pull the engine for a rebuild. I'd do the HG now, but we all know doing it *right* involves pulling the engine anyway so I'm just going to see how it holds up for now.

Now that I'm settled in the new apartment, hopefully I'll keep this thread updated more often now!

Yep that's mine. There is also another video on youtube of the car being loaded on the truck from the previous owner.

Definitely! I've been meaning to get together with some local guys, but didn't find the time last year. Hoping the Supra will be up and running good this spring though!

The wheels (I think) are:

18x8.5 +40
18x9.5 +31

As much as I like the wheels, I've been thinking of changing it up a little. I'd like some work equips, but have doubts they would clear the calipers in the front.

Nice build and color. How do those brakes feel?
I haven't had much of a chance to really try them out yet. While bedding them in they felt GREAT; you can feel the blood in your head move towards the front...lol. And I still think they had a little more juice left in them.

The only thing that annoying is finding wheels to clear them!

My old and tired CT26 was sent to driftmotion for a refresh and 57 trim upgrade. Looks great! :naughty:

Some before and after shots (I'm sure you can tell which are before and which are after :p):

57 trim installed!

Solenoid for Apexi AVC-R mounted right by the wastegate actuator for the shortest vacuum hose length:

GM and AVC-R MAP sensors mounted to the firewall right behind the intake manifold:

Engine bay in its current state:

And a wiring MESS currently...but it will all be tucked away once I have verified everything it working correctly!

Not much to go until I start it up for the spring. I just need to:

  • Install my 680cc RC injectors (yes, overkill for this turbo but leaves me plenty of headroom for my borg warner plans later)
  • Mount Tial BOV and GM IAT sensor in intercooler pipe right before the throttle body
  • Little bit of proper grounding for the electronics (moving from the chassis to directly bolted to the head)
  • ...and a few more small things I'm sure I'm forgetting...

looking good!

Thanks! We'll have to get together this spring even though you don't have the Supra anymore. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Hondas...I still miss my Prelude sometimes :(.

I've noticed quite a few people swap to the N/A valve covers when doing the COP setup, probably a silly question, but what's the reasoning for this?

On another note, the BBK looks badass, intake looks nice, car is just sweet overall.

Only for aesthetics ;). NA valve covers don't have the "dip" where the GTE coil packs go, and have less holes/studs for the stock throttle linkage. I also noticed they were painted a slightly brighter color too.

Looking good, I like the mountings for the AVC-R and as stated above, I dig the ffim as well.

I can't wait to either see a clip of the car or see it in person.

Really great build thread Andy! Your car is beautiful, very nice work.

Thanks for the kind words Fred! I look forward to having a fresh engine rebuild like yours. Until then, we'll see how much the stock motor can take :p

Installed my 660cc RC injectors:

New fused power distribution block with a voltage readout.

pwr_dist_block.JPG

I haven't received the fuses in the mail yet, so for now I've just clamped 4 AWG wire in there to get it started. Which brings me to my next point...it started up today on the Maft Pro! Cold start idle was a bit unstable/rough but it may just need some mainscale adjustment for the 660s (already had it at -20) or some afterstart enrichment. Warmed up it idled nice and smooth at 14.7 AFR.

The very first start on the Maft Pro.

If you're wondering why I have an air filter directly attached to the throttle body...it's because I'm currently getting the BOV and IAT flanged welded on my IC pipe. That should be back by mid week :) But because I'm on speed density I can do that!
