how did u make the stock tps work with that throttle body?

Seth modified the shaft so the stock TPS will fit over it, but honestly it was/is a PAIN to get it on there and adjusted correctly. I'm sure I could come up with a better mounting solution, but it's on there and working for now.

I'm still trying to get some updates for you guys, hang in there!

Finally, some updates for you guys. It's been running pretty well for the past couple of months, and I've been driving it more regularly (still not daily though).

I bought a universal Lokar throttle cable from summit racing and modified it to fit. I had to cut the firewall bracket off of the stock cable, and drill out the center hole a little more:

I'm now in the middle of some maintenance before I continue on with the build.

I have no clue when the diff oil was changed last, so some new fluid to refresh it:

Finished installing my gauges. I have water temp and oil pressure on the a-pillar, and boost and AFR on the the steering column.

Finished up the hatch. I cut the wood and carpet to fit around the battery, and added an automotive fire extinguisher just in case. I'd hate to watch my car burn to the ground if something happened.

Since the life of my brake pads are dwindling, I'm currently placing my order for a big brake kit from Arizona Performance. Hopefully this will be the last time the stock front brakes are pictured!

...and a short vid of startup and idling :):

As you can see the wideband isn't hooked up yet, and I'm dealing with a slight misfire at idle. Otherwise it's running good!

That intake is truly a piece of art, makes me wish I was only partially as talented ha. But as always, loving the teal

Thanks! There are times when I see a red MKIII and drool, but it only takes a glimpse of the sun shining on the metallic teal to make me love the color all over again :)

That is the truth...ever catch yourself staring at it as you walk away?

hows the Lexus treating ya? I ran in to the guy that has the maroon 86.5 that works at the Lexus dealer in Green, and he told me about you getting the Lexus IS300.

Great so far! I'm loving the car, other than a slightly concerning rattle/knock on cold starts (a little ironic with a 2J ;) ). It may just be me though; the car is extremely quiet and solid and you can hear a pin drop so maybe I'm just hearing normal cold start noises that I haven't on my previous cars. It makes a great daily while still being fun :)

So I've been thinking about using a holset turbo instead of the GT35R (at least initially). They are so much cheaper and still a very sturdy turbo. Instead of spending $1500+ on JUST the turbo, I could spend a third of that on the turbo and use the ~$1000 on something else, such as head work and valvetrain upgrades. Thoughts? I know we have a few holset fans on here ;)

Ordered 660cc injectors, a MAFT Pro (speed density conversion) and an Apexi AVC-R electronic boost controller. Still waiting for those to arrive.

Received my front 13" big brake kit from Andy (Arizona Performance) and installed it. I haven't had much of a chance to try them out as I still need to bed them in. Pictures of the install:

very clean build coming along! and from my knowledge Holset turbos are pretty good turbo's. You will reach your power goals but spend alot less on the Holset.

Yeah I might just try a Holset. It likely doesn't spool quite as well as a 35R (no ball bearings), but I'm wondering if the difference in spool is worth ~$1000. I think I'll go with a T4 manifold (using a T3-T4 adapter for the Holset) so I can still swap/upgrade turbos easily. I'd like to make it to the Indy meets at some point, I hear they are fun!

The car has come together very nice. I am very impressed with the overall turnout of the car itself. Give yourself a pat on the back, and cruise that thing as often as possible.
Regarding the turbo, the 35R is bada**. The Holset, cheaper, but very robust. Have you given any consideration to anything in the BW lineup, like the 83/75? Not as expensive as the 35R, but with equal results, and just a tad bit more than the Holset, price wise. Keep us updated on the progress of your car. Great Job!

Thanks! I assume BW = Borg Warner? If so no, I haven't looked into those turbos too much. I don't hear of too many people running them (at least on Supras). Do you have a good resource for info on them? I do love the whistle that Borg Warners make!

So I was curious about the BW turbos and did a little research last night. As you mentioned Sinistr, the BW S300SX 83/75 seems like a very capable turbo. It flows more than a 35R (especially at higher boost) but still spools exactly the same (WITH journal bearings!). See the following back-to-back comparison of the 83/75 to the GT3582R:

http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=611432

Granted, it's on a 4 cylinder evo, but it still shows the spool characteristics of the turbo compared to the Garrett. Some benefits I see of using this over the 35R (some taken from the linked article):

- Cheaper
- Flows more (68 lbs/min) with similar spool, especially at higher boost levels
- Easier to work on (oil lines aren't hard to get to like the 35R)
- Cheap to rebuild
- Great sound (same turbo on a MKIV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtJ_Juk7qyY )

Hmmm...choices choices. I do plan on putting a 57 trim CT-26 on the motor until I get it built, so I still have some time to decide :)
