Yes, that is 100% correct. Actually weld first, then offset grind second.

Yep, well im retarded....that woudl be the way to do it...lol. But at least you knew what i meant :icon_razz

Ha Ha, yeah I knew what you meant. Later I am going to do a Billet steel crank from 5160. These will be set at any stroke anyone would ever want right from the start. You still have that maroon 88 supra?

Hey Dave, I was talking to you on Supraforums about the BBQ and camping at tx2k7, and killing some mk4's with our Harleys...

Parts will be ready Very very soon. Takes forever to weld and grind these cranks. Your crank or one of mine, I can make these all different sizes. Few weeks maybe.

I hope you make TX! Its totaly a blast, ask slow66. PM me a number so we can discuse this crank some more. I noticed you do cams. I am in the market for a set. I was waiting for the BC group buy, but it seems that the cams will be a while longer before they are produced.

I wanted my car ready by TX2K7....But there is no way in hell it will be ready. So this give me time to built it right.
I had actually been concidering CP piston instead of JEs. Good thing i saw this thread, cause i was getting ready to order pistons.

I will wait to see how much everything is going to cost before i order.

Dave

One note about stroke throws. 97mm is about as far as you can go without having the rod shoulders hit some very vital parts inside the block. (You will still have to clearance the block and other parts, especially with the Pauter rods as they are thicker where it counts than the stock ones.)

And my 97mm stroke, 84mm bore 7MGTE running Pauter rods has 327sbc rod journals, so the shoulders are slightly narrow compared to the stock sized rod bearings.

Nice thing about the journal size is off the shelf rods with 327sbc journal size, 6" length are simple to source. (Not exactly if you use the Honda pin size as I suggest to keep weight down, and be able to move the pin bore up as high as possible on the piston while keeping a nice thick first land to handle high boost conditions.) Pauter will build whatever size/spec rods you desire. Just hand them money.

Defiant found out that 101mm stroke is not possible on stock oil system parts. (Build a motor, and you will quickly find out why 97mm is about as far as you can go without serious oil pump system mods.)

I have modified my oil system as far as I was willing to go short of a complete dry sump setup. (What Defiant ended up going with eventually.) Figure your going to spend 1500.00 on the short side, and 2500.00 on the high side for your custom dry sump needs for this motor if you want much more stroke than 97mm.

Good luck, I like my 3.24L 7MGTE, it's fun to drive around town, has great tourqe and I'm hoping it proves to be a long running motor as well.

Having built two strokers, and one high performance 7MGTE engines, I'd go with a 427ci LS7 based engine if I had to do it all over again. :) (Add two T70 turbochargers, the fuel system to make it all work, and a stout automatic and enjoy easy 1000rwhp on pump gas.)

Yes, I do cams also, stock regrinds and billet steel custom grinds from new stock. Lets talk about them on the phone.

Oooh, if you setup a custom cam set for the stroker, I'd be interested in that.

I would think that anyone who's doing this to the short block would do the basic head upgrades like oversize valves and upgraded springs along with the porting needed to make the most of them. :) (I have 1mm OS stainless valves and BBC/CompCams springs ready for some higher lift and longer duration cams... )

Why don't you get that car running first before you buy new cams. :) :)
Your T70 is begging for a pre-oil!

What's the crank/piston combo expected to cost? Do you only do 6M cranks or do you do 7Ms as well?

I am waiting to finish this crank to see how much time I have in it before releasing a final price, but ball park, the crank and pistons, pins, and rings will be 2200 to 2400.00
I am also going to offer the bearings, main studs, and anything else needed for a bottom end as an add on package deal
Does not matter if it is a 6 or 7m crank, the process is the same, and the price will be too.

LOL @ Spinningheadboy..

One of these days man, one of these days. (Just need to take the time and do it, but the problem is I will only do it right, so that takes time.)

Sometimes I wonder why in the world did I decide to go this route.. LOL (It was running fine, excellent infact.)

Hey Rich, slightly off topic - but if I wanted to actually destroke my 7m to say... 85mm or so, would that be possible?

Further, if I sent you the crank and all for this, could you knife edge, lighten, and balance the assembly? ;)

Yes, that can be done. Samething as adding stroke, just that I would weld the upside instead of the downside. You could still use the stock style rods, just would have to use custom pistons with a taller dome or move the pin down.
