OH yeah and I removed every single trace of window sticker's on the inside to prepare for tinting. I originally had planned to drive to Dallas to get tinted, since Tritek is one of the best in Texas, plus they sponsor texassupras.com. However the morning of my trip, I decided I would do more research on tint shops in Austin. This led me to three of the shops that had full 5 star ratings on every review site I could find. Of all three, only one was willing to go 15% all around... and they offered the cheapest tint film, so I said screw it... Dallas here I come. BUT... that has to wait as I discovered several problems.
First I noticed the return of my fuel smell which I thought I had fixed with a new hose and clamps on the supply line to the charcoal canister. Apparently NOT. So in the process of removing my canister to test it, I noticed some of the pipes leading to my BOV (er... BPV since it's stock) were cracked as well as some in my PCV line. Since these cracks were new, I figured that the increased heat in Austin was finally getting to my 23 year old hoses (the last time the car experienced RUNNING in any form of Hot weather was.... many many moons ago... probably when it was last in Texas... which was 17 years ago)
In the process of removing these line to inspect, I decided to finally take action on the extremely poor condition of the adapter Apex'i gave me, particularly the inside surface (as some of you may recall I had plans to address this the first day I got my Apex'i kit). As I was there, I noticed my can of Duplicolor High Heat gloss black engine enamel paint sitting there very lonely, SO I decided to also tidy up the color clashing under my hood.
And of course, removing all these components revealed DIRTY DIRTY areas that haven't seen the light of day in AGES. Also I decided to clean up the mess my leaky breather tubes were causing, which prompted removal of valve cover #3, and from that an inspection of my spark plugs.
While I was there and pretty everything in the engine bay I could remove without major issues, gone, I thought to myself... hmmm lets paint strip those ugly valve covers.... so that's gonna happen tomorrow
I also removed my Heat shield and some rusted support pieces around it for cleaning, painting and polishing.
OK pics now:
new mirrors I got from a buddy in Houston
. Dismantling them here for a future trip to body shop
Seems everyone had the wasp nest problem Lol
New Interior pieces courtesy of S.A. Supra thanks man!!
Oil leaking from the turbo?? This is another issue I noticed, I'm not sure if it's just from the PCV line or... if my turbo is leaking
There is a very very slight amount of shaft play, but I will have to doublecheck on the axis of said play tomorrow... er later today
Another issue I found... a PCV line that wasn;t connected and I never noticed it. Took me awhile to research where this line was supposed to go
All the merry way down in there.... *sigh
After performing the Canister check on the tsrm... I have concluded that when air is going into the supply port... it ONLY exits out of the bottom line, nothing comes out of the line to the BVSV. I even connected some vacuum line to it and pplaced the other end in a cup of water to see fi maybe there was a SLIGHT amount of airflow... NOPE... nada. And according to tsrm, if the canister fails this test, well, replace it is the only option, so I promptly found one on ebay... couldn't find one on the forums... and I needed one stat... so 30 ish bucks went down.
All tore up yet again... *sigh
I will have more pics tomorrow, so stay tuned!!
