That's cool, i have the original window sticker from my 87 was almost 28k back then. I also like the front end on the 87/88 but prefer the rear end on the 89's Just found a 3 piece spoiler, my extra supra i got and just traded has the 89 tail lights on it and part of the trade is he needs to put them on my 87 when he paints it.

Alright, it's been awhile since I updated this thread.

What's been done to the car:

Got the a/c fixed and charged with r12a. Shoutout to Mobes for his help and knowledge!! Really appreciate his assistance. Also replaced a/c belt and alternator belt while we were in there. Couldn't get the ps belt off, so that'll be for anther day.

Got my coolant leak fixed by replacing the thermostat gasket, and coolant flushed yet again.

That's pretty much it. I went to TX2K11 and it was the first time in my life I have been around and seen so many supras in one place at the same time. It was an awesome experience and I can't wait until TX2K12. I also met a bunch of fellow supra owners off the texassupras.com forum. Got to roll with them and found out how horribly slow Jasmine is right now compared to their semi-built cars :1zhelp:. I also met a couple guys off the forums here: JDMMA70 and Bluechulappa. If there is a demand for TX2K11 photos/vids let me know. I will upload them and probably start a new thread for them as well.

Now for some juicy stuff. I have been thinking and with advice from many fellow supra owners, I have decided on a course of action and the next few upgrades I would like to do.

In order of priority here is the list of things I want to do to the car within the next half year to year or so:

0. (this isn't important, but I definitely want it done ASAP dude to heat season approaching) Get windows tinted with charcool or madico. 10-20% side 5% back
1. Replace transmission oil pump
2. Perform complete flush for trans
3. Possible rebuild of alternate a340e from fellow SM member. ( If this happens, then the best parts will go into this one so I can send the other off for performance rebuild in the future)
4. Replace steering rack and all bushings related
5. Perform complete PS flush
6. Replace suspension bushings with Energy Poly Bushings. (Possible co-op effort with JDMMA70)
7. Purchase and install DDP from BIC with dump-pipe rerouted back into main exhaust
8. Purchase and install Tanabe Touring Medallion (same one JDMMA70 has installed)
9. Purchase and install auto-trans cooler (depending on situation, this might get bumped up to right after the trans rebuild)
10. Purchase and install new window trim from Toyota (namely the windshield trim, and hatch trim. Also the targa seals need replacing). And a new lip (or valance as Toyota calls it).
11. Around this time, I think new rims will be in demand...
12. I will need to replace both driver and passenger side mirrors, the whole assembly. If anyone has good to mint condition pre89 side mirrors, pm me I am very interested in those, color doesn't matter.

This is all I can think of right now. I'll probably add more later and maybe some pics too

ok folks.. got an issue... when I shut down the car there is this weird nouse like rubber squeaking coming from the front of the car. Almost sounds like the engines last few vibrations are causing rubber to squeak together... busted engine mounts perhaps???

Vid of the clicking noise I described earlier:

The clicking noise when you shut off the car im gonna take a chance and assume its just the ISC.

The clicking/vibrating noise in your video sounds like solenoids in the transmission

Question... should I just get myself some lowering springs for now until I can afford a full coilover kit?... eibach springs from Titan are only 262... they lower 1.2". LoL nvm Driftmotion has em too for cheaper. 225 for eibachs and 199 for B&G springs which lower 1.5"

Alright since I can't sleep figured I'd keep my word and update this thread. So as some of you know, I decided to do something about the nasty faded paint on my sawblades Found some threads on beautifying sawblades and decided to take action. I used some Tal-Strip and got all the paint off... and then polished once with Mothers... thats it.

OH yeah and I removed every single trace of window sticker's on the inside to prepare for tinting. I originally had planned to drive to Dallas to get tinted, since Tritek is one of the best in Texas, plus they sponsor texassupras.com. However the morning of my trip, I decided I would do more research on tint shops in Austin. This led me to three of the shops that had full 5 star ratings on every review site I could find. Of all three, only one was willing to go 15% all around... and they offered the cheapest tint film, so I said screw it... Dallas here I come. BUT... that has to wait as I discovered several problems.

First I noticed the return of my fuel smell which I thought I had fixed with a new hose and clamps on the supply line to the charcoal canister. Apparently NOT. So in the process of removing my canister to test it, I noticed some of the pipes leading to my BOV (er... BPV since it's stock) were cracked as well as some in my PCV line. Since these cracks were new, I figured that the increased heat in Austin was finally getting to my 23 year old hoses (the last time the car experienced RUNNING in any form of Hot weather was.... many many moons ago... probably when it was last in Texas... which was 17 years ago)

In the process of removing these line to inspect, I decided to finally take action on the extremely poor condition of the adapter Apex'i gave me, particularly the inside surface (as some of you may recall I had plans to address this the first day I got my Apex'i kit). As I was there, I noticed my can of Duplicolor High Heat gloss black engine enamel paint sitting there very lonely, SO I decided to also tidy up the color clashing under my hood.

And of course, removing all these components revealed DIRTY DIRTY areas that haven't seen the light of day in AGES. Also I decided to clean up the mess my leaky breather tubes were causing, which prompted removal of valve cover #3, and from that an inspection of my spark plugs.

While I was there and pretty everything in the engine bay I could remove without major issues, gone, I thought to myself... hmmm lets paint strip those ugly valve covers.... so that's gonna happen tomorrow :D

I also removed my Heat shield and some rusted support pieces around it for cleaning, painting and polishing.

OK pics now:

new mirrors I got from a buddy in Houston :D. Dismantling them here for a future trip to body shop

sm_photo_missing.jpg

sm_photo_missing.jpg

Seems everyone had the wasp nest problem Lol

sm_photo_missing.jpg

New Interior pieces courtesy of S.A. Supra thanks man!!

sm_photo_missing.jpg

Oil leaking from the turbo?? This is another issue I noticed, I'm not sure if it's just from the PCV line or... if my turbo is leaking

sm_photo_missing.jpg

There is a very very slight amount of shaft play, but I will have to doublecheck on the axis of said play tomorrow... er later today

sm_photo_missing.jpg

Another issue I found... a PCV line that wasn;t connected and I never noticed it. Took me awhile to research where this line was supposed to go

sm_photo_missing.jpg

All the merry way down in there.... *sigh

sm_photo_missing.jpg

After performing the Canister check on the tsrm... I have concluded that when air is going into the supply port... it ONLY exits out of the bottom line, nothing comes out of the line to the BVSV. I even connected some vacuum line to it and pplaced the other end in a cup of water to see fi maybe there was a SLIGHT amount of airflow... NOPE... nada. And according to tsrm, if the canister fails this test, well, replace it is the only option, so I promptly found one on ebay... couldn't find one on the forums... and I needed one stat... so 30 ish bucks went down.

sm_photo_missing.jpg

All tore up yet again... *sigh

sm_photo_missing.jpg

I will have more pics tomorrow, so stay tuned!!

*facepalm LoL I'm debating whether or not to get the silicone hose kit off ebay. I can't find anyone that provides replacement hoses for all that molded stuff besides the stealership... here's my thread for that: http://www.supramania.com/forums/sh...7M-silicone-hose-kits-or-suitable-replacement

Like I said in my other thread, I think all my other pipes may be just about ready to go too, so it's imperative that I replace them. I could just do a intercooler upgrade, but the price of that is 300+ and I still have to do something about all those hoses. So unless someone can provide for me said hoses (that aren't just as old as the ones I have right now) for cheaper than the ebay price... I'm going to say that the possibility to poor quality silicone is better than cracked 23 year old rubber. And who knows, maybe they will turn out to be pretty good quality.

I would check with the dealership, the one I told you about. I had to buy some of those molded hoses once they were $15 or so a piece. They are grey when new.

Vacuum lines I would get off.of eBay.

Oil in turbo? What does your ic pipe look like the one that goes from the turbo to the ic.

Got pics otw. The inside of all my IC piping is pretty coated with oil... also I found my suspected boost leak... the pipe that connects to the turbo is cracked all to hell at the lip and under and past a little bit the clamp.

Trying to figure out if these are 2.5 or 2.75 inches... I concluded that they should be 2.5 all the way

---------- Post added at 11:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:31 AM ----------

Ok I am really getting frustrated... my measurements are clashing with what is on driftmotion's website. They have 2.25 piping listed as what connects to the 3k pipe. According to my measurements, the upper pipes come in at 2.5 as do the bottom ones... does this mean that it really is 2.25 all around but they just swell to 2.5 once squeezed onto the fittings and stay that way after baking for 23 years??? OR is driftmotion wrong and the tubing really is 2.5 inches all around???? Some people say it differs at different locations... well according to my measurements, they are all with a 1/4in of each other, which means toyota probably did the sensible thing and kept the IC piping at the same diameter all around (except where the 3k pipe goes into the tb). So wtf does this mean for my choice of clamps???? do I get 2.25 clamps??? or 2.5 clamps???? AGH!!!!!!!

oh here is the clamp size thread I resurrected... and still no solid answer from ANYONE... tsrm doesn't have dimensions for some effin reason: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?138730-Stock-IC-piping-clamps

Ugh

Now that I have discovered all these issues... I think you are right, it might just be cheaper for me to get the kit and plug the bov port on the accordion pipe (where in the world do I find those... plugs that people are using???). I still need to address the cracked pcv hoses and breather tubes too...
