Everything is coming together clean taking your time is the best option!!

What color? as far as the cam covers and the timing cover? its a tough choice with your body color but Flat black looks sweet on anything IMO at least lol

Was partstrain pretty cheap? I'd like to know how the competition is compared to mine, send me a link.

yeah, they had reasonably good deals. i'm not complaining.

its www.partstrain.com

you got two feet of the braided hose for my turbo oil return and powersteering?
and a 90 degree 2.5" red IC Pipe coupler wif 2 t bolt clamps.

thats all i need to finish the beast

if you do.

you save the day.

Nice build!!! I am doing mine right now, but it will take awhile for me to her done. I turned in my plates for storage, so I don't have to pay for insurance or car registration. Depending on the funds, I hope to get her done in 6 months or so. After removing all the wire connections, all my clips fell apart from heat stress.

Good Luck to you!!!

alright, been out doin things and just collecting parts. these are some, i have the other parts downstairs and the radiator, HG kit, timing belt, and various other things are still in transit.

here ya go

i think you guys will like the red theme.
when i get more paychecks, the red intercooler couplers, the red hoses, and red strut bar will add a nice touch.

and yet again, i need more knowledge on the cam position sensor. the haynes manual only vaguely does the job.
this has to be perfect
input?

besides destroying my brain with 195 proof grain alcohol:)

also, installing the new intercooler, i made a bracket or two but i have to move the oil cooler around.
good place to put it? because the new intercooler takes up the whole front pretty much.

alright, i started prepping the block, and finishing up a couple of parts prepping.
at 2 am.

no more stock chipped paint. nice and shiny

precautionary steps
p1174165_3.jpg

i'm pretty sure i found the culprit for the overheating and why the HG blew

on the exhaust side of the top o de block, there is two ports. on the intake side there is one port. this is per cylinder. the intake side port is a little off center on either side.
the headgasket has 2 ports per the intake and exhaust. what i found out was the little chunk of headgasket between the ports halfway blocks the ports on the intake side.

p1174165_4.jpg

p1174165_5.jpg

am i correct on this? or is that standard? because i just got the HG set and it has four ports per cylinder and it has reinforced ports with rings around the edge
as you can see the imprints on the block by the HG.
p1174165_6.jpg

this is where i stopped. i am not even close to being done with it yet.

then i proceeded to just keep working on the car all night, and went buck nasty on the head. i went through and replaced the valve seals and cleaned EVERYTHING. cams and valves smooth as new asphalt.

old and new valve seals
p1175818_5.jpg

so i didn't want to buy a valve spring compressor, so i rented one and the only one i could get was the wrap around the head kind. it did'nt reach to the valves so i made a jahoosawathingamajiga to help me.

this

the valves were in really good condition except the #6 from the BHG
