Has anyone tried putting a domestic fan blade onto the 2JZ clutch? I know a lot of older vehicles had metal fans and I doubt those flex as much as our plastic ones...

2JZ fan clutch
2JZGE fan blade (spaced out slightly)

same as Bigzavs, but I have a stock rad.. if I wanted to upgrade to a Koyo (or something else), I doubt I'd have to worry at all.

it centers itself, the spacing i have it 2 very small washers

they barely move it out, but its there for insurance mainly

same here.. two washers where the fan mounts to the clutch..

Ben, I assume spacing of the clutch and the trimming of the blade were for insurance, right?

(then again I used some lock washers I found, and they are likely thicker than the ones used on your setup)

i think i want to get rid of my hydro fan as well,jza70 radiator is leaking in the middle to. I have an 87 radiator on my parts car in great shape with fan and shroud.

can i use the 2jzgte water pump/pully and fan clutch?

if not what can i use to work with the 87 radiator with shroud and fan?

with a stock radiator (87-92), one can use the 2JZ water pump, the 2JZGTE fan blade, and 7M fan shroud.. or you can use the GE blade with some spacing (mentioned above) for the possibility of having an upgraded radiator in the future.

Well, I called Aaron, he uses a setup and says it works, I will buy it.

He sells what he runs and it is really never some crappy part. I believe we all agree.

I have a turbo kit from him with 4000+ miles still going strong.

If I wanted to get rid of the hydro fan on my setup would I need the whole complete 2jz water pump with rear housing or could I just buy the water pump?

If I need the whole thing is Driftmotion the only place to buy it? I have a friend that can get me a great price on parts from Napa, but I think they only have the Water pump and not the rear housing.

Yes, you need the whole water pump with the rear housing. When you buy a water pump from Toyota it comes with the housing and o-rings as well. If you look around, you can get a decent price on one from Toyota, my local Toyota is $133 for the whole assembly.

got a 2jzge clutc and fan, mine has no clearance for some reason with my radiator hose, i had to put 3 washers as spacers on the studs! and it still almost has no clearance. maybe i should get longer studs? lol i feel like im the only 1j that this happens to. i seen a lot of people with this same setup and they put no washers and it has good clearance from the upper radiator hose.

try putting a few smaller washers where the fan mounts to the clutch, just make sure you mount it securely.. if that doesn't work (dunno why it wouldn't), then you could try shaving some material off the back of the blades like Bigzavs and some other have done.

regardless of how much spacing occurs, the clearance (in regards to the water neck) is never gonna be as good as say the GTE fan blade IMO.. though as previously stated, the GE blade allows one to retain the clutch fan setup if going to a bigger rad.

i think your problem is that you have a GE clutch, im not 100% sure, but i dont think it sits out as far as the GTE

that might be it, ill try the GTE clutch next. if that doesnt help ill just get longer studs i guess..

that maybe true. but the clutches are different. my boy has the gte clutch on his 2j mk3 and it does bring out the blade more than the GE.
