You can call scheider racing cams

They will do custom re-grinds for around 200 a cam I believe, just send them a core.

That's who I went to for a 272 cam, they do great work

edited my first post, they are schneider cams, not crower.

im not sure of the exhaust housing size, its whatever stock is off a 1998 cummins 12 valve, divided.

im wondering if i need to leave my turbo alone and just do the cams and cop or if the compressor upgrade will benefit. i what does a larger compressor wheel do besides more flow? if i understand this correctly the cams will flow more and that same 16lbs will be enhanced. then the cop will help with a hotter spark and larger gap for staying lit underboost and a larger gap will make for a nicer idle with less miss(currently .22 gap)

cams will flow more air and so will the compressor wheel upgrade.
depending on which wheel you go with, you might push up your full spool up a bit. im not sure what your at now, but mines at 4000rpm with 62mm wheel, 272 cams, 3.5"downpipe and full 3"exhaust to 10" cherrybomb glasspack and hks hi-power muffler

you can go with a bigger compressor wheel/smaller exhaust housing and still spool quickly, but not have the top end power

There is a guy on SF with a GT3582R in .63A/R with a T3 flange, with a stock block 2JZ-GTE making 497whp and full boost by 3.2k. That was with everything stock, that turbo, and a MAP-ECU2 on pump gas. And the power held till 7k

So I'm thinking about a turbo modification.

Changing to a different turbo can be expensive

Why not turn up the boost and run water meth injection? Just my .02

I would say first finish the mods you planned for the ignition, and then see where you are.
I think your current setup can do better.

Water/meth injection cools the intake mixture allowing for aggressive tuning without detonation. Most I have discussed this with use it after they hit about 550 rwhp. It does work, but I can't say anything about pros and cons having never run the setup.

I really haven't heard of any cons, just the time and $$ to install it, which is reasonable.

And Adam- How much have you spent on tuning? You've been down there twice for a couple of hours each time, right?
You shouldn't be charged more than $100 per hour, I'd hope.

Probably $850 in tuning now. And 550whp would be outside of my goal. 450 is the goal on pump gas but the tuner is staying a little rich and not so much timing since its a daily and that I have NA pistons. He's afraid that the ring lands may break. If I had TT pistons he would be more willing to do a TT tune instead. I'm no tuner so I'll let him do his thing. I really wish I had someone smart to pick their brain on tuning. I just want a good tune. Not aggressive or too safe.can this be done on a aem?

AEM is as capable a system as you can get without going to the pro efi or a haltech system, so yes- you can tune to exactly what you want with it.
I'm hoping your new ignition system will cure all your troubles.
Did you get the new speedo cable in it yet?

My tune will cost over 2k on the hks fcon VPro this upcoming week.

I thought the only way to steep the torque over the HP was to go out and spen 10k on a 2jz stroker kit. (Or build a 7m)

:)

I don't really see the point in shooting for a top speed tune since how often are you going to be reaching top speed? I'd shoot for more acceleration and response but that is just me.
