The difference between a 600 hp street car and a 1000 hp street car is a longer walk out of the woods.

I Don't think the driver of either car would be walking out of the woods.

I'm going to have to disagree with you here, dude. It's not *hard*, it's *expensive*. Mibrum doesn't appear to be having any problems getting those kind of numbers. Check this: http://www.gtepowered.com/index.php?page=html/gcurmi/profile.php

And I'm not going to let you claim that it's cheaper to do it with a 2J, either. Is there a cost difference? Sure - but it's marginal, at best.

The only difference IMO is that the guys who own 2Js are more willing to drop the money into their car to build that dyno queen. Well, and the fact that you can stroke the 2J even more, giving you a 3.4 or 3.6L displacement, which admittedly bumps your possible top end even more, but there is no difference between an 800hp Supra and a 1500hp Supra - they are both useless if you need to drive to the golf course.

So what are we talking about here? 1000 hp OEM long block or a 1000 hp 7MGTE:icon_razz

It was mentioned that the 2J had hit 1K on OEM block but developed rod knock. Someone thought that the 7M did too but Ray's 7M is not stock. IIRC, Sean aka x-man 700 and change on his 7M.

Hey duane, was wondering why you switched to an auto. Does it allow the power to be more usable in a straight line drag? I know that for a circuit track a manual is better because you have to peddle the car a lot more, so its harder to stay on the power waiting for the auto to shift. Just wanted your insight for the future because i will be setting my car up for drag since that's all we have in southeast Texas.

Probably so he could make that beast transfer power to the ground more easily.

Because he's ready to start throwing out E.T's in the 1320 to match all that horsepower. ;)

That...and, I suppose I don't give Duane credit alllllllllll the time....
But he did go Auto. So, he must be half-way smart at least...right?

Peter Bloch did over 1,000 on a stock 2JZ, but it developed rod knock the next day.

Imo dynos dont show engine durability. You can dyno a number buy never be able to use it. Darin ran a 9.5 on an unopened block (not even cams) iirc.

I dont think I've ever seen a 7m mkiii run that fast. Hopefully that'll change soon though.

Well, I got tired out trying clutches and then it was decided that I wanted to drag it a little more and be more consistent. Auto is crazy when it comes to shifting and such and can't compare but you can have the manal set-up so you wouldn't lose boost bewteen shifts. All in all, I have some times to hit this year anyway, just as soon as I finish my new mods this winter. :)

Its an auto, no need for driver mod anymore. Just hit a button and slap the stick a few times.

Fine, tell me the cost difference between a stock 2jz and a stock 7M motor. I'll bet I can mod a 7M to be BETTER than the 2J for the difference in cost.
