    5m crank in a 7m, or just go 5m?

Are all 5m cranks forged ? Since they have the same rod journal dia. and or 6mm shorter stoke they would have 3mm more overlap between the crank pin and the rod pin which would be a stronger crank ? If the crank is stronger and the throws shorter would it not be easier to balance and have less...

    5m crank in a 7m, or just go 5m?

Thanks guys I learned something here today. the discussion has been good and knowledge exchanged without ego's getting in the way or stepped on . if you can destroke a 7m with said parts then you can also stroke a 5m doing the reverse right? opens up some options for those with mkII's and 5m's .

    5m crank in a 7m, or just go 5m?

I didn't think that the would have different rod lenghts. I quess I'm use to sbc's all having the same rod lenght. all their gen1 no matter what displacment execpt the 400 had the same rod they just moved the pin placement on the piston.

    5m crank in a 7m, or just go 5m?

I think it would be around 5.75 to 1 if the numbers I run are correct. The Ls1 rods won't work with out welding the big end to make them wider they are narrower than the std gen1 sbc rod which is .940 the 7m rod is close to 1.00wide . The rod that might work with a few mods is the Olds 350 rods...

    5m crank in a 7m, or just go 5m?

Thats going to be hard Aaron . you have 5 main areas of the rod to match. big end dia. , pin dia , lenght , big end width , small end width . If one of these did match it custom and a lot of money for the HP range you want. It would be easier to have the pin hole moved on a set of custom pistons

    5m crank in a 7m, or just go 5m?

If you use the shorter stroke 5m crank you will have to have custom pistons or custom rods to make up 1/2 the difference in the stoke or you will have a real low compression ratio as the piston will not reach the top of the block.

    Forged pistons for $350 new

I don't have any experience with the 7m pistons , but have used them in chevy 350's for circle track racing. Never had 1 problem with them. they as a piston company would be very comparable to Ross ,Wiseco. Arais. If you go to www.probeindustries.com you can find out more about them. I have...

    Question (as usual) :]

If you drill out the seal over the adjuster on the AFM . you can back the screw out some and raise the fuel cut. I've done it and don,t see fuel cut till 14 psi of boost.
