    You should do a compression check. I would be surprised if you didn't damage something else when it overheated. If your head gasket is fine I would recommend retorquing the head bolts. You should still flush the coolant. Define "funky".

    And you kept driving it [into the red]? :aigo: Check the coolant level, thermostat, water pump. Check for coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant. You should be reasonable sure that it isn't a blown head gasket before you turn the car on again, IMO.
