Google Supra COP mod, it will lead you to the thread. Lays it all out and explains it. Fairly certain with a standalone system it removes the wasted spark firing order to help prevent spark blowout too, but I haven't researched it much yet.

The studs themselves seem to be okay, the nut was the issue, but I have about 4 full sets sitting here. Not sure how difficult it would have been but I remember my odyssey was a pain when a tire shop cross threaded one stud.

I think the ECU dictates the harness, not the engine. the 87 7MGTE and the 90 7MGTE are the same beast (although I think they may have strengthened the block on the 90.. ). If it runs like poop.. perhaps he has some other issue? Over the 3 years, I just think they strengthened things, corrected...
