I'll look later tonight. But garrett states that you'll have a minor impact on efficiency.
I would say less then 5%, more in the 2-3 range.
With small turbos there is no reason to run a ported cover. But if you have a larger turbo, it (having a ported cover) would out weigh the benefits of...
The tranny wont add more heat then the a/c system. My car (stock) with a near dead fan clutch would still cool fine. Occasionally the a/c would turn off (usually after sitting for 10 minutes+ with it 90* outside..... I assume A/c temp switch was switched and turned off the a/c) but still...
Ahh, trying to find something to help my celicas shifting. I tried RL 75-80NS and it didn't help at all. I almost think it made it worse (not grinding or anything, just longer pause for the syncros). Its sucks cause the celica gearbox takes 5.5 quarts :(
Thoughts on Royal Purple Max gear oil?
There are several runs on SF where non surge covers make more power. If you think about it it makes perfect sense, the turbo can only flow so much, if you induce a leak (surge port) the air will leak through there and less flow reaches the engine.
I would worry about the condensation in the intercooler, and wouldn't the turbo flow less air now since it has the pass the meth/water mix through it as well? Also I wouldn't really want water drops hitting my compressor at 100+k rpm
It could be valve stem seals. The same thing happened on my buddys 1jz. Smoked like a dead turbo ended up being the valve stems seams though.
How much does the car boost in sequential? You verified the actuators move but have you verified the VSVs work as they should?
If you look at the 1jz ports (intake) vs the 2jz, you'll see why the velocity is higher. The ports are smaller and with smaller ports you'll have higher velocity with similar flow (lower lifts). But of course with a smaller port and you run out of flow faster then the larger.
