Discussion on the potential of the 7MGE

Before and after dyno sheets would be nice to see. I would think you would need some way of grinding all the ports and such the same so the flow numbers would be somewhat uniform. The first head I did I spend about 40 hours on, taking a little at a time and trying to do the same amount to...

Discussion on the potential of the 7MGE

Nice work. Only took you 12 hours to do that. I worked several hours on a head and didn't look as good as that. What did you use as far as tools? The Kamikaze Supra that was referenced, was a turbo 7M. I remember the article way back, not hard to get 300 from a turbo ;)

    Loose caboose

Thought I'd post back what I found. The wife has been driving it for a while now, she stated that it seemed like the brakes were grabbing. So I figured I'd check them and the bearings to try to locate the problem. Pulled the rear and checked the pads, half gone, not too bad, rotors looked...

    7M-GE Rebuild Kit

Did you use a jumper wire to check for codes? Topline is alright, Felpro is better. The gaskets on the Topline are OK.

Have you had the battery checked? The loose wire, don't remember what somebody said it goes to, mine is loose also.

    Rod Knock?

Yeah, you should have at least checked the clearances with plastigauge, not the most accurate but will do. The TSRM shows you the way and clearances. Even if you were using the same crank, block, etc., clearances need to be checked. Did you change out the mains and thrust washers?

    It runs. Thanks guys!

:yelrotflm:yelrotflm:yelrotflm There is a bolt on the bottom of the middle manifold that the grounds connect to. Hook them up and let us know if it runs then. Told you that sometimes it's the simple things that get over looked.

    It runs. Thanks guys!

Do you have the AFM connected? The grounds connected to the intake manifold? I know simple questions but you wouldn't believe how many has forgot the simple things. Also, I hope you're not spraying starter fluid into the AFM.

    miss fires

Could be a lot of things, any codes? Don't think it makes a difference but you have posted in the NA section. Why did you change the HG because it was overheating? There are a lot of things that can make it overheat besides the HG, overheating can cause the HG to go though ;)

    Wierd Idle

Yup^ What I'd check. Sounds more like the timing belt has slipped a tooth or two, but I'd check it all.
