    weight reduction

Aftermarket swaybays are significantly heavier than stock. I've replaced the seats, aluminum one piece driveshaft, aluminum flywheel, complete ac delete, rear seat delete, aluminum radiator. The weight difference adds up but it's still not a light car. Never got around to weighing it...

Should I keep my parts painted or go back to black?

I voted for painting them black again but you could probably keep them the same color if you added something for contrast. Maybe paint the highlighted lettering black or some other detail.

    Tacky or not: Seat covers

I'm not a fan of the seat covers but it's your car, do what you want with it. If you like them then our opinions shouldn't matter.

    Timing

Gas here is pretty expensive. It still only adds up to $2-$3 per tank but when you fill the tank twice a week it adds up over time. I still run premium in all my cars but for some people that's an extra few dollars they can eat.

Clunk sound from rear- Anyone ever had a bad half shaft?

What kind of shaft are you running? The stock shaft uses non-rebuildable u-joints and they make a 'clunk' sound when wearing out.

What's the dumbest idea you've ever heard?

Thinking that we can spend our way out of debt. Buying a house that costs $500,000 when your annual salary is $35,000. Doing an Arnold Schwarzeneggar impersonation when answering a liberal political science teachers question.

300ZX - Is the mechanic being honest with me?

If he drove it until it died then the numbers are probably accurate. You could always do your own compression test. Z31s are a PITA to work on but compression test is still pretty simple.

    Answering questions

It's an 82 280ZX and the forum was Zdriver. I downloaded an FSM and read it cover to cover until I found my problem. Now I just have to fix it.

    Answering questions

My Z won't start. Ended up figuring out my problem myself before the boards came through for me. I posted this rant here instead of there because I actually care about the people on this board, lol.

    Timing

It's possible. Running advanced timing on low octane gas promotes detonation which will definitely ruin a headgasket.

    Answering questions

I'm a member of many car forums and I run across this problem on every single one of them: If you figure out what your problem was, TELL US WHAT IT WAS! I can't count the number of times I've gone searching for answers to questions only to find a dozen related threads that just end with no...

And according to Bishop it gives no performance increase at all. Ignition is not a weakness on the GE.

    7mge headers

I run Pacesetters and tried them with the engine in various configurations. (I was bored and had time) On a stock engine I noticed no performance gain, though it did sound a lot meaner. With cams there was a noticeable difference in acceleration. After boosting compression and porting the...

    Timing

I run 10 degrees, personally. If we didn't have such crappy gas here I would run 12-15.

    Fan Clutch question

Pretty sure they're the same dimensions. It shouldn't be a problem to switch from the GE fan to the GTE fan. I have both in my garage, somewhere, I'll dig them out and compare.

    muted boom now not start

I'm confused. When you turn the key the starter turns over but the engine does not, is that correct? The starter is not engaging the engine? If the engine cranks with the starter then the starter is not the problem. You've already checked spark and fuel, I would check compression and timing...

every week it is something new. need help

Reset the mechanical timing to stock and see what happens. Also, never just check your grounds. If a ground is even remotely suspect, remove it, clean it and it's mating surface with sandpaper, and reattach it. After that try checking sensors. There are steps for testing both the TPS and the...
