damn, that's rough... I always do things by the book, but still... I've run into issues where the writer of the workbook had no idea what they were talking about, and said procedure failed miserably (removing 7m oilpan for instance) if you follow a haynes manual on that, you will FAIL... TSRM FTW
so, I got this car from a friend of mine, he had the engine rebuilt forever ago, but never really drove the car that much (think a few hundred miles) anyhow, I took the valve covers off to check the torque on the head bolts, don't want a BHG... especially considering how strong this one is...
good job
I was surprised to say the least (at how well the ge performed) but my car was a 5spd hardtop 87, no abs, no tems, 91 wheels (-28 lbs over stock) no spare.... I also run my gas tank on the low end, and I weigh ~140lbs... like I said, fresh rebuild, bored .50 over, VERY well taken care...
fresh rebuild bored .50 over, but otherwise stock
I know it had no problem getting to 135, but this was in mid 2007, I can't recall if I was on a slight downhill slope, in any case, the engine definitely was stout (for what it was)
that was on i40 inbetween central NC, and western NC, I only...
best bet would be to find a wrecked gs300, is300, or sc300 in a junkyard (with no damage to engine of course) I've seen lots of these TBH, and with pretty good mileage too... most cars here are tested and marked if they have a good engine or trans
so if my speedo read 135, how fast do you guys think that was... for some reason I thought my n/a had 3.73 gears (although I know they didn't come with those), I did swap in a 3.73 lsd when I did the gte swap... but mine was a 87 year model open diff sport model (hardtop, spoiler, no tems, 5...
0-60? dang I'd guess 7 ish... top speed? no idea. I hit 135mph and it was still pulling strong... I swapped to the 7mgte shortly after buying the car... the ge got piss poor gas mileage compared to the gte
#'s were on a fresh re-built 7mge bored .50 over otherwise stock
still need to get under the dash and fiddle around/replace my gauge cluster with the one without crinkled white faces :nono: but I did find my car had 0 ign timing advance... so adjusting that got rid of the hesitation...
good points... I can see these helping a lot... and you have no reason to say they make a huge improvement when you're tying to run a legitimate business, selling a product that doesn't hold up to the description would simply be bad for your reputation and business... so I see no reason not...
the advice is that a stoked 1jz = 2jz  pretty simple....
with the right tune people thrash 2jz's on stock bottom end w/ 8-900hp... if it blows, go to the junkyard, find a lexus and buy another block for ~$200 pretty simple
for me... not by much... (350 minus prep and actual cost of paint) I was thinking of throwing some gold reflective tape up under my hood... not sure how effective/costly that would be though
OfnaRcR4 how does the car feel when you're driving? it sounds like one of your cylinders isn't running on par with the rest. I've had a loose injector clip do this before
 your burgundy soup looks better than mine. I just picked up a burgundy 89 turbo out of PA w/ a rebuilt motor already in it... it was a good deal, but already a money pit :D
lookin nice so far, looks like you almost got it goin :)
still not shedding light on the tach issue... I've read of people having a loose/bad connection somewhere between the igniter and the ecu (one guy said he had to jiggle/mess with a connector near the ecu under the dash...)
I'll be putting a different cluster in the car too to see if that will...
