Well if you car WAS throwing code(s), it would be 31, and/or 51. These 2 codes refer to the AFM, TPS, and ECU. Since you have no codes, it might be something simple, like bad gas or maybe a clogged fuel filter.
a OEM headunit, or aftermarket ? If its OEM, you only need the 1 harness...but for a 86.5...not a 87. If aftermarket, well thats a different story. Basic aftermarket radio wire harness colors:
Red - power
yellow - ignition (key)
black - ground
orange - illumination
blue - amplifier remote...
I would also wonder if the gauge itself is working... but yea check your vacuum line going to the boost sensor, if its hooked up and the line looks good, then see if you can borrow a friends boost gauge, and see if that one works.
