Cool tip I found for short shift mod

yup, someone did this to my car :( I disapprove. I do however have a NM shifter, need to get one of those OE dampener deals... I'll believe it when I see it :icon_neut

    Coilover

from what I've heard KW makes the best coilovers in terms of ride quality (and handling) not sure if you can get these on the mkiii, haven't checked, the one's I'm talking about were on a mkiv

    Looking at a Porsche 944s

I'd have to agree. my buddy from VT owned one. Not for long. It was an abysmal heap of junk, and had more issues that I've probably seen any other car have. I like the concept (rear mounted transmission for better balance) but it seems to me that the car is just cheaply made. period

interesting... if that's what you want, go for it.... could always just get some billet valve covers milled for the 7m though.... (I know, I made that sound like an easy/simple thing to accomplish ;) )

    My new baby 06/23/2013

if you want to go hard, I'd say shoot for 700hp on a stock block w/ cams. it'll hold for a long time w/ the right tune, and that's about the deciding point for the r-154 trans. it may or may not fail. if you treat it with care, it might hold up. as for the rest... I think all you really...

    240sx or Supra?

who knows... that "solid" feel might save your life some day. the supras (soarers and cressidas too) will take a hell of a beating when some ass-hat comes careening into you while texting.

 go big or go home (says the guy telling you to get a 3.0 instead of a 3.0) :nono: edit: was too agrivated by the ignorance here, I didn't even notice the comment on the mounts.... 2jz mounts bolt up to the 89-92 supra chassis (grind alignment pin off the under-side of mount to fit)

    240sx or Supra?

you have an AWD jza70!?!? ^^^ I'd like to know why you wouldn't recommend a turbo car for DD. PS: my N/A supra got more wheelspin in the dry (open diff) double the hp later and add a LSD, less compression is more controllable at lower throttle (not gassing it and spraying n2o) but the car...

    240sx or Supra?

this was back in 07, that engine died when my buddy had it for a while. no clue what happened. it was tuned w/ a safc so you have to keep a close eye on things. mine was probably 350whp, burning 400whp worth of fuel, most likely with at least 1 boost leak, probably more.... i really did...

ok, so you just want a 2jz for the novelty factor? :stickpoke: why not just use what you've got? :icon_conf

assuming the 7m broke? not uncommon. if JZ swap fits the budget, go for it. I see some nice ones in the junk yards from time to time (wrecked lexus 30k ish miles) those dual cam v8's in the yard tempt me though 8) (vk45)

2jz vs 7m reliablity? hope this isnt too noob of a question.

being as dense as I am I've got about a %50 chance of guessing right, but i'd say "change the clutch" although I've had mine go out from age, another from use and abuse (exploded) and have had to upgrade to hold power in the past... even now my new OE one is slipping on a mostly stock engine :(...

    240sx or Supra?

lead foot mod :D, mostly stock engine was tuned a hair. I always treat my cars with respect though. general rule out of anal retentiveness... wait 10 mins before I ever go WOT (or even %50) the pidgeon has flown the coop. always found the bird cage amusing, especially since I've never had...

    240sx or Supra?

lol, truth be told I would average about 10 mpg in my turbo supra O_o but like I said, if you drove it just right you'd get 30

2jz vs 7m reliablity? hope this isnt too noob of a question.

yeah, i guess time will tell.... I'd say just run the recommended 10w30.... also the thrust bearing isn't pressure fed, so it just gets lubed from oil spilling off from other areas in the engine. (that's why you don't want to stand on the clutch on startup, or while sitting) I've personally...

    ACT extreme PP causing crankwalk??

hrm... I responded to this a week ago, guess it never went through... anywho, thanks for taking the time to explain the finer details of the matter, between talking w/ you and my buddy that runs a tuning shop (mostly supras) I'm feeling much less paranoid 8)

    240sx or Supra?

mine was rebuilt, bored out a lil bit. it ran STRONG, but the best it would ever get was 23 maybe 24 mpg I want to say on the highway O_o around town mpg was deplorable. (16 or 17?) and that was just driving normal, in a hardtop... my super red turbo 89 (targa) definitely hit 30mpg on the...

2jz vs 7m reliablity? hope this isnt too noob of a question.

figure of speech my friend. I've never seen either engines get crankwalk.... I've seen firsthand PLENTY of built 7m's... usually the cause of engine failure will be a poor tune, or fatigued engine (or both) bearings let go and then maybe you get to throw a rod... simply put I've never even...
