Just as a footnote... Have gone about 3000 km on this turbo and it is a beast. 385 rwhp at 12 psi.
Even with the smaller ar, it still spools a bit late, so I'm going to put a QSV on it next spring.
I think I am reaching the upper limits of a stock head (purely by physics with a big safety factor).
Engine wise, I think the next upgrade will be 272 cams and a stronger valve train. My goal is to safely reach as close to 500 rwhp without sacrificing durability.
I can at 400ish rwhp right now...
Im running 385 rwhp @ 12 psi on my T4. Its capped basically because if I go higher (which is simple... 500 rwhp is easy to do with my current setup), I cant keep the car on the road with my current tires... lol.
I run at 14 psi capped (B setting) which would put it at about 400 rwhp. Any...
so... im guessing your rebuilding the engine yourself from the list? New oil pump is smart (shim it 5mm). Stock pistons can handle 600 crank HP. You will have less knock issues with stock pistons over Forged... but if you ever want to get into the 500 rwhp range, I would recommend forged. Im...
Im running 255's on a 18x9.5 with +38 offset... no issues. 265 should work.. but you may want to run 265/35/18 for speedo... it will still be off but not as much as with 40/18
Lol... I want to drive to SIV... Not doing 2000 km one way with the top off...
I bought a used (rebuilt) AC compressor from a member here... Another waste of money. They wouldn't touch it... Said it looked too beat up and was very low on oil. It was filthy...
Most of my used purchases have...
I've considers it, but with normal injection there are too many things to consider. If I would do it, I would have controlled injectors per cylinder, not just a spray into the intake plenum.
I'm shooting for the most power I can safely get out of my engine without worrying about causing a...
Thanks, I will do that. I just wondered if the max numbers were known, because it's a standard. Having the wheel off and measuring can't be done properly I don't think because the wheel swings up and in when you lower the car (not a lot... But a fair amount.
Lol, as soon as I read the "spray"...
7m valve covers are prone to leaking. That fills up the spark plug galley. Mine had over a quart in there and ran fine until the wires started expanding and popped off all by themselves.
You will notice that the valve covers are Phillips screws. Don't...
Generally I want stock final wheel height (or close to) so the speedo isn't too far off, with equal height front and back. I want the 17's on back to give me some sidewall, the 18's are too stiff. Having a grabby tire but no sidewall for hook isn't good when you go above 400 and once I up my...
Im looking at setting up my car with Nittos (not a drag radial but should grab for street) with a 17x10 on rear and 18x8.5 on front. Keep me level but allow for more sidewall. Just gotta find the right wheel and offset for my MK3.
You can use compressed air or a rope in the cylinder to prevent the valve from falling and try to do it without taking the head off... Depends why it's open?
