Personally I would go 2jz... unless you already have the engine. For swaps (from my understanding) the 2JZ is the most common, and therefore, has the largest support base. Plus... 1jz has a smaller displacement. 2jz is the "ultimate" swap for a MK3, although rebuilding the 7M isn't all that bad...
Yeah, I think he sent his in before mine. Ours were probably the last Jack will be doing, although Jack has my old one, so he may have a built one for sale. (Once he rebuilds the one I swapped)
I'm wondering on yours, if you notice, did they silicone the bolts on the front plate? Mine were, had it redone properly at my shop and made sure it didn't leak prior to installation. Ran three tanks through the car (not quite) and changed the fluid. Was black with a lot of shiny specks. Cars...
No... You don't have to drive it gently and you NEVER drive with "no" antifreeze. No idea if that's what you really meant.
Yes. If not machined correctly, it will fail. You have to machine the block correctly to use a Mhg, otherwise use the stock composite.
Can you order Volks 3 piece with spec settings or are they only at their advertised setup?
That may be a stupid question... Lol
I think I have my answer though. I just needed to know max width and offset before it pokes out or touches the inner suspension.
So I would need 10" with a +42-+45 range and Max tire width of 275?
This probably has been done before, but I can't find anyone running 10s without the wheel protruding from the well or they have rolled and pulled the rear wells.
Fronts are perfect with a 18" 8.5" rim on a +38 offset, IMO...
Question (if anyone knows)... what offset do I want on a 17" rim that is 10" wide to put 295's on and have the rubber still inside (or not protruding) the wheelwell?
I have tried the calculator and its not accurate enough (meaning, it doesn't tell me when I will hit my suspension on the...
Great thread, just read the whole thing. I could follow most of it.. but reading this makes me feel less bad about spending money on the shop I use.. lol.
It all sounds fairly straight forward, but I just picture myself doing it wrong as I tend to do one thing wrong whenever I pick up a wrench. :D
BTW, I have that dual tip exhaust... You'll love it. Not loud, just nice low rumble. No drone. But it has a healthy touch of a roar at WOT. And only someone who really really knows a MK3 can tell its aftermarket.
Doing the leak, it was the oring on the speedo cable. Changed the trans fluid as well. Was black with a lot of shiny metal flakes.... Will change it again once I have a chance to drive it 3000-5000 km

Drive the Supra yesterday to make sure the new R154 was okie dokie. Everything checked out except I have a small leak somewhere (suspect speedo gear location?) it may also be slightly overfull and just pushed out a little trans lube. Is toyota redline MT fluid clear like engine oil?
I have a...
I'm not a mechanic, but I'm wondering, at 8000 RPM, with the compression already quite high, any concerns with lifting the head? I've seen some heads that crack around the exhaust side where the head bolts go. Was just my first thought when I read the 8000 rpm redline. second thought was bearing...
