The .96 is way to big for a 1JZ, unless you are shooting for 700+. Anything larger than a 66mm turbo is really laggy on a 1j. We tuned a 1j car with a .68 T67 and it made 15-17 psi at 5300-5500 RPMs. Which really kills the drivability of the 1jz, unless you rev to 8000-9000 rpms. It made peak...
Both are good ecus and can have different modifications. The standard moded ecu has higher rev limit, no boost/ fuel cut, and slightly more agressive timing maps. Some are configured for larger injectors. The thing is that they are bought used most of the time and unless you get one from a JDM...
I guess I should finally get mine up on the list: 12.01 @ 118 MPH, with a lame 2.16 60'. I think I may have a vid let me check. Basic mod list is:
87 mk3
-1jz
-BIC T61 turbo kit, .58 a/r, 22 psi, 480 rwhp
-BIC 3.5" DP and Thunder catback
-Haltech PS 2000 EMS
-750cc injectors
-USDM 2jz...
Well we have been busy here at the shop and figured its about time we post some of our shop projects. Here is the most recent build. The goals are 475+ on pump gas and 600 on high boost (water meth)
-87 MK3
-Rebuilt 2jzgte
-Crower 264 cams
-BIC Performance single turbo kit, DBB T67, .68 A/R...
The suspension and bushings are causing the wheel hop. If you are running the original shocks and springs they are most likley worn out. Also the subframe bushing allow for alot of movement, there is almost 3/4" of up and down travel of the rear subframe at the bushings. BIC has some solid...
They would be only if you run a standalone EMS, these will not work correctly on a stock ECU setup as you cannot adjust the dwell setings. This goes for 1jz's and 7mgte's. 7M's dont normally have spark problems.
The Drewgo manifold is the problem, they are known to creep with 67 or larger turbo's. I would honestly go with another manifold, I just went though all this recently on a 2jz, DBB T67. With a lot of work and fabrication you can get it to hold, but I would just buy another style manifold for the...
Update- I just ran these coils up to 27 psi the other day and had no spark blow out or issues, these things are great !
HonestAbe- Let me know when your car is up and running with the 1ZZ coils.
We have the services and a supply of the JDM Recaro fabric. We offer premade covers for the JDM front and rear Recaros. We could recover the factory seats in the Recaro material, but the Recaro material is not cheap, about twice that of normal seat material. PM me if you would like more details.
I have seen and taken apart a Group A engine. The cams are pretty wild ( I have the specs written down somewhere) and it was ported/ polished and the head was notched for the high lift cams. Also the block looked like the whole thing had been shot peened.
There is very little difference in spool on BB and non BB turbo's of equal size. But if you ever blow the turbo you are basicly SOL as most BB turbo's arent rebuildable. I had a DBB T61 and then changed to a journal bearing T61 back to back, you could hardly feel any difference, maybe 100-200...
The LS coils are wider and dont fit in the 1jz between the valve covers. They do fit well on a 2jz though. Either the LS and 1ZZ coils are a great upgrade if you are on an EMS, and your stock coils are cracked and need replacement. The factory igintors are also known weak links. These wouldnt be...
Wow, there is alot of miss information in this thread from people that dont know what they are talking about.
Yes, the divorced Downpipe flows more and makes more power. Like Grimjack said, when we first designed and built the DDP we dynoed it back to back after the BIC standard 3" DP and saw...
The joys of a 500HP car !!! You wanted a quick spooling responsive car, now thats what you got. Unless you run with lower boost you are SOL. Without a standalone with traction control you are very limited what you can do.....Maybe just drive your DD when its cold and wet out.
Like said above depending on the type of stand you can use the factory trans bolts or the head bolts for the top tow bolts just under the head. For the bottom bolts you can simply use a smaller diameter through bolt and a nut to hold it on the stand. 5/16" grade 5 will work.
As for the 1jz/ 2jz...
LOL........Should put a carburator on the 7m too, that would make for a the ultimate poop in your apple pie swap.
I have heard of 3SGTE, swapped into the mk4 for GTC racing in Japan.
The twin GT28R setup we made preformaed great, the response was great as it made 18-19 psi at 3700 RPMs, and 502 RWHP at 22 psi. It did have some surge issues at cruise, due to the turbine housing size, and at the time there was no other sizes other than the .64 a/r. The best setup would be twin...
The 2jz is the easiest most cost effective engine to swap in for 600 HP. 2JZ's with 67+ mm turbos respond great and can make 500 WHP on 94 oct pump gas easily. Its rediculous how easy a 2j will make power, even over a 1j, you have to push a 1j pretty hard to make 500HP, it takes 22+ psi and...
