Here is my engine bay. What is safe to use for cleaning it?

Have you tried straight polishing it or are your scratches too bad for that?

Installing crank timing pulley woodruff key, oil seals, and pressing balancer on?

I've done some searching and reading and found some things, but still have these questions. I purchased a new woodruff key for the timing belt crank pulley from toyota, and it's a very tight fit, I can only manage to stick 1/3 of one end in by hand in attempt to wiggle or push it down in...I...

Here is my engine bay. What is safe to use for cleaning it?

My friend said Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner works wonders...although I have not tested it myself. BE WARNED. I just wanted to see if anyone else has tried it, or knows by the chemicals contained if it would work...

LOL. cause damn...I figured either there was some secret evading me about the physics of pickups, or they suck at driving and you don't. I did find out on wiki that a newer tundra can hit 500hp with a supercharger though... :D

Tropicana "Rescue the Rainforest", anyone else doing this?

I've been typing in codes off of orange juice that we buy at Costco in order for Tropicana to pay to 'save' 100sq. ft. of Rainforest for each carton. This doesn't seem like much, but I figure...what the hell, can't hurt...and it adds up. Has anyone else been submitting codes? I figured I'd...

Earthquake! Smooshed Celica. Not mine but hey...

We had a 6.5 earthquake up here on the north coast of California, and I found these pics on facebook of a poor little celica that didn't make it when a brick wall from the building in the background plummeted a couple stories onto the car. I figured it was mildly relevant to the boards...

Here is my engine bay. What is safe to use for cleaning it?

Why in the hell would anyone use a cleaner that is corrosive or otherwise detrimentally reactive to their paint when the know that ahead of time? .............:arcadefre:bigun2: Does it not matter to some because you can't see it until you lift the hood? :dunno:

Here is my engine bay. What is safe to use for cleaning it?

Hah, damn. Well the only other suggestion I have is wd-40 and a good towel, but that would leave some residue. Still...could work well on the gunk.

Here is my engine bay. What is safe to use for cleaning it?

What about alcohol? I've used it and it seemed to work fine on my black engine bay. While it doesn't leave a sparkling shiny surface without going over at least twice with a clean towel the second time, it WILL help cut some of the nasty oils and other gunk. If you don't wipe it off...

What's the little hole in the bottom of the water pump?

typo - I meant oil pump seal. Mine is leaking a bit. THANK YOU!! I was wondering about that. I'm going to price everything I wanted to buy, looks like he's quick to post back. Does Royal Moore Toyota give similar discount compared to Champion or Vancouver Toyota?

What's the little hole in the bottom of the water pump?

If we can make sure this is the same or equivalent and fine for the 7mge, and it is new, I will most likely purchase it from you. So the one you offer me is a new in box one too? It should still work though right despite different numbers? I'm also using a dampener from a turbo, it looks to...

What's the little hole in the bottom of the water pump?

Well There is one company that seems to use stamped impellers...I might try to get one if the price is right. I might not be able to afford a toyota part but I AM waiting until Monday to check the price on one. 75 dollars is probably my next paycheck.:nono::icon_mad::cry: IJ: lol.:biglaugh...

What's the little hole in the bottom of the water pump?

Sounds scary, I'll put that pump on my shopping list. We know of any brands to avoid? I noticed they range from a 30 dollar Cardone brand to a 60 dollar Master Pro brand or a 75 dollar Beck/Arnley Oddly, there is a reman. Cardone for 41 dollars...it's more money? lol...ok I'll probably buy...

    Can you identify this piece?

I would think a missing woodruff shouldn't send the pulley out the engine bay... eventually it could unbolt but I don't see it going anywhere with that much force except down, and that's assuming it pushes off the shaft despite all the belts that run off it. Maybe if it fell and ricocheted off...

What's the little hole in the bottom of the water pump?

ohhh boy. Ok thank you all for the good information! I'll throw this on my list of to-dos. This probably explains the very slow coolant loss I was experiencing. Guh.
