I’m sooooooooo frustrated with this crap...
Ok so I need to vent here...
So ill start from the beginning...
So I found this supra in auto trader for 2500... ended up buying it for 1200. It’s a 88 turbo with a little less than 65000 original miles on it. It already had a DP...
so i took a long screw driver and placed it to a few defferent places on the motor.. the intake mani. the head and the alt. and i put my ear to the end of the screw driver and i can clearley hear a tap and or knock...
ok so i just read the thread by supracentrel about piston slap.. so how do i know if i have it? im running forged je pistons .40 over and i thought i had a very small rod knock.. then i read that thread and now i think its piston slap... the motor only had 270 miles on it... so its not fully...
ok so i can hear a faint tapping at idel.. when i rev a little the tapping gets louder then goes away... and it :seams: to be comming from the block)=...
this is a brand new FREAKIN motor!!!!!!
i searched couldent really find much... thats why i poasted a thread.. sooo can anyone help me? how do i tell if its rod knock? pleeeaasse? i just had the entire motor re built with eagle rods je pistons and chevette 77 berrings... everything was ballenced and stuff... new 5mm shimmed oil...
how do i know if i have rod knock? i can hear something.. but it isnt loud at all... and dosent sound consistant... how can i tell? im extreamley worried..... if it is knock how is it fixed?
i seccond that i got a toyota oil pump when i rebuilt my motor.. 230 miles ago(= i shimmed it 5 mm and i get 20 psi at idel and 40+ driveing... it worked great!
