A little off topic, but I was forced to take my car to a small town shop in Nevada when my timing belt & pulley needed replacing on the way to Vegas. The mechanic topped up my Toyota red coolant with some other type of domestic red coolant and said that they are compatible. Is this true?
Which turbo can do that? On a stock 7M head? (just curious)
The cost is hefty, as are going with BB turbo instead of a journal bearing, but you get that wider power band every single pull as long as it works... not a bad trade off.
I'd like to see more tests and dyno charts. Ideally, a full pull with the valve open, one with it closed, and then a chart of the valve in operation/transition.
Here is the full ABM testing thread http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=516096
Have a read through it and see what you...
How could you calculate which A/R to use so that the valve is not a restriction? I assume that the valve stays closed at all times, until a set boost pressure is reached. Unless you had some more advanced control of it that left it open all the time, until over 70% throttle AND under preset...
It's almost too cold in my garage. I had to wear a jacket and thermal socks working on my car in the garage even with the 1500W heater on full blast. The doors don't insulate very well.
I have a blue '84 Mk2 as my DD. I'll have to get a photo of it with snow tires on the rear. They are super skinny and sunk in real far :) They are forecasting 8 inches of snow within 24 hrs here in Vancouver. Very very unusual for this time of year! Usually just lots of rain no where near freezing.
Yes, this thread has become epic and legendary. Will it end, or continue with endless sequels? :sarcasm:
It sounds like it's been narrowed down at least. I can relate, I've had a couple of annoying problems with my car since day 1, and I just solved them. If somethings not right with my car...
I solved my problem today! It was the code-43 problem after all (ECU is not getting a signal that you are trying to start the engine). I got this code a while ago, so I made sure that the original starter circuit was getting a signal (it was cut at the steering column to install a hot start...
Good point. I was thinking of doing the same by tapping and drilling a fitting into my EGR block off plate. But I also wanted to have a dedicated vac line there for my AFPR. I'm concerned about the PCV being so close to a vac line. Opinions? My TB port is super clogged so I may have to do this...
Anyone heard about this product? Designed to add into water/meth injection kits. Supposedly adds liquid nitromethane, offering more fuel and oxygen. Is this possible?

Interesting. Did you add a PCV one-way check valve to the intake manifold? Where does it connect to the can, or other line that is also pulling from the turbo inlet?
Any tips on cleaning the TB port? I can't seem to unclog mine.
Well if 50% of these batteries are good, maybe I'll be lucky. What battery do you recommend? I have mine rear mounted near two 10" subs and like the idea of a non-spill, vibration-resistant battery.
I also double checked the current draw a couple of days ago. It was actually 71ma, not...
My car came with a GReddy catch can mounted right in front of the radiator. It appears that no oil is collecting in the can (nothing ever shows on the sight hose), and there is oil residue in my intake hose.
Will adding steel wool be enough to solve this? I was thinking of mounting it at the...
My alternator? It's some unnamed aftermarket 130amp unit that came with the car.
I posted this thread on SF as well, and FIVE others are saying they had major trouble with Optima batteries: http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=519879
I guess they are becoming the FRAM of the...
After all that trouble, it was actually a faulty Yellow Top battery. I brought it in for testing, and it charged fine, and passed the load test, but they tried letting it sit overnight and it dropped a lot of voltage. Luckily they changed the warranty to a 3-year free replacement on all Optima...
