The reason the temp rises after you shut off the car is because the water pump isnt circulating water through the system. So your coolant just soaks in the block and obviously the temp rises.
Is there any risk of switching oils, not weight. I'm running Castrol Syntec 10W40 right now and it has become kind of hard to find at times here. Plus only a select few places carry it while I see the other synthetics in just about every store. Plus that oil is quite expensive, I dont know...
