To remove the driveshaft just unbolt it from the Diff and unbolt the carrier bearing, it'll just slide out of the transmission.

To take off that cover you have to loosen or even take off the front of the water neck. My guess is that your car is low on coolant.

The reason the temp rises after you shut off the car is because the water pump isnt circulating water through the system. So your coolant just soaks in the block and obviously the temp rises.
