Some how through my build i have managed to lose the exhaust manifold and turbo suports. I was wondering if these two pieces are super critical. I understand that my turbo and manifold arent going to fall off if they are not there. I am assuming they are primarily to control small vibrations. So do i really need these bad boys?

Toyota didnt put them there to look at.:3d_frown: You should have them so you dont rip the manifold studs out of the head.

running two years without them... mani support was lost by machine shop and turbo support can't be fitted cause aftermarket turbo...
Zero problems here, but I've redone my exh. mani studs...

So, these parts aren't super critical but it's better to have them in place. I'd say without them you are rising risk of cracking turbo and/or manifold...
And of course if your exhaust studs can't handle TSRM torque, it's time to fix it... or you are going to have exhaust leak problem (especially without supporting brackets)

The exhaust mani studs are prone to strip. Deleting the support will not help things, especially if you throw a bigger turbo on. So the answer is the supports are not critical but they are there for a reason.

How do you guys recomend fixing the soft exh mani bolt issue. I had one that was stripped to the max so what i did was drilled it out and put a 3/8 heli-coil it torqued with no issue along with the rest of my studs using the stock studs. Is this heli-coil a descent fix. I know we use them on the SBC V8s we build with no issue (but we dont use them in super high torque spec areas)
