Pure math. 2.5inch pipe has a cross sectional area of 4.9 square inches. 3.0inch pipe has a cross sectional area of 7.1 square inches. So, you'll lose just over 30% capacity leaving it the way it is. Will this work for a stock CT? Probably. Is it ideal? Not by a long shot.
