Thats what I was thinking Aaron. I loaded the map that you sent.
Wedge.. I'm running the IS300 coils, I guess I could try and hook up the stock coil packs and see, but if I'm not getting spark the problem is probably in my ignitor wiring (because I'm not seeing tach output). At least thats my...
Thanks man!
I'm cranking over the car, but no luck. I managed to get the CPS in decent working order, just to get it running. I know the engine is flooded (from the CPS dilema) so I'm currently taking out the spark plugs and letting it air out. I have the suspicion that the ignition signal is...
Thanks Aaron, I set the CPS as per the PM you sent me, and my stock tach still isn't moving. I checked my wiring and it's all straight. Sounds like my ignitors not getting the signal, huh?
I'm taking out my spark plugs and letting my engine clear, because its definately flooded. I can smell...
yup, 1JZ Bellhousing for R154 (I got mine from Jay @ Champion Toyota), 1JZ Flywheel for R154
the rest will be the same as if you were doing an auto to 5spd conversion in an 7MGTE MKIII.
c_ronius is right, your auto ECU will work fine.
Keep up with the copper head gasket thread and that will give you all the information that you need.
For the record, the key to having a long healthy headgasket life is the tune. Avoiding detonation. IIRC MK3Brent is still on the EOM headgasket with 400+ RWHP... XMan helped tune a car with...
I doubt it will hold up to more than 10 PSI of boost.. 2JZGE NA-T guys do it w/ the KV sensor, and they claim things get screwy really quickly with blow-through..
EDIT: Sorry.. I didn't look at the pics. I didn't realize it was flapper. Thats pretty interesting.. keep us posted!
DO NOT do what I did. I ran a cometic, w/ brake quiet spray. Sanded the block with 600-800-1000-1200-1500-2000 (mirror shine neadless to say). I machined the head. It never blew for 5000+ miles, on 21PSI w/ an SP61GT (held up to 26 PSI). I never blew a HG on that motor. It never blew at all...
Okay, so I tried starting the car, with the ignition and fuel maps that were pre-loaded, and just crossed my fingers. No such luck. I was just wondering if the included map was for a stock 7M, or for a 1JZ, or what. I was also wondering if the CPS settings would have to be changed.
I...
Damn.. it worked lastnight. I got the car all ready to be started up tonight, and sure enough the CPS is reading 394 RPM's again. WTF. I guess I'm just going to buy another one.
..like knock sensors for starters. Not that this problem can't be overcome.. just mentioning it so people won't think GTE electronics are completely "plug n' play".
yea, definately. I unpluged it and didn't connect the open terminals. I completely understand the connection now (10 hours with a multimeter and diagrams will do it, I guess). Thanks for the 50th time Aaron!
