The original post was about putting a BBC into a MK3.(AKA V-8 supras)
Yeah, the SBC needed work,it was a 40 year old engine when they started to variate from the original, outdated design. But still highly capable motors any way you look at it.
It's not that neither engine needs work for...
Gotcha,thanks.
I'm anxious to see this project unfold,I have enormous respect for the GM V-8's.
Last one I worked on was an '02 'vette ZO6 (LS6 engine) put a CAI,and a full Corsa exhaust(headers too) and that thing was just a beast. Was rather surprised w/the street manners it had w/the power...
Well said Poodles.
Hell a plain jane 350 w/the right factory GM heads is more than capable of 400HP,have been for decades.
And the 7M has proved itself time and time again, and is capable of some serious horsepower levels, and IF you don't half-ass or cut corners,is a rather reliable engine too.
1JZ's are turbo.
Turbo=displacement
What part of the OP wanting pics/tales of a BB chevy in a MK3 caused this big, childish pissing contest?
Seems a lot of shit talking about the GM motor, sorry to burst the bubbles, but the 1UZ isn't gonna push 400RWHP without some work either.
And you can't...
Why change the MK3 rear end for an occasionally beat daily driver?
The stock LSD rear end is rather durable, and can handle quite a beating at moderate power levels.
And there are a few choices of gear ratios(I believe 3.54:1 is the lowest you can get in that housing)IIRC the factory offered...
Ian also wants the extra displacement that the 6.0 liter offers, the 1UZ at 4 liters isn't that much more displacement than the 7M.Not to mention that the 10.4:1 compression(and extra displacement) of the ls will make it much more enjoyable to drive off boost.
And I don't think he cares about...
Hard to tell by the pics covered in snow, but has it been painted yet?
If not,I'd be down to donate paint/bodywork(as long as you have a garage and compressor to spray it)I'll supply all the materials as long as it's not a crazy expensive color(s),if the color is expensive I'd ask for a lil'...
Same here, never had the supras mistaken for another car,a lot of "What year bimmer is that?" comments about the cressida's though(MX63's),but they do look like the bimmers of the same era.
