Valve buckets & shims got all mixed up (Stupid red squirrel!!!!)

Yep,gonna have to measure them all.PITA,but you'll get the hang of it by the time you're done. And you measure them with a micrometer(pawn shops are a good place to get them,a lot easier if you get a digital one too)

    custom MKIII sub box

Mdf isn't any easier to cut.And you will hear a difference as the MDF is a bit denser than the plywood(especially 3/8" thick plywood.)

    custom MKIII sub box

Here's the one from my MK2,rather similar design,it fit tight against the seats, and was shallow enough to still open the false floor in the hatch. They sounded good for some cheapo 10's.(sorry pic sucks)

has anyone installed nitrous on a 7mge

Corvette motor=standard chevy v-8(especially the sweet ~160hp small blocks of the 70's 'vettes)rather simple motors, and nowhere near as tight of tolerances as the 7M,1JZ,or 2jz.Not really much to brag about kid.

    custom MKIII sub box

Good idea on the design(looks a lot like the box I made for my 1st MK2) but it really isn't the right material,or thick enough, especially for a pair of 12's. Medium density fiberboard(MDF) 5/8" or thicker is the material of choice for speaker boxes. Plywood, and even worse, thin plywood will...

    I hate decisions (help me?)

IMO the MK3 is one of the very few cars that look good white. Door jambs are not hard to paint, and even staying the same color they should be sprayed anyways as they normally show some wear(it's actually easier to mask them off TO paint them) Engine compartment is a different story, not hard to...

replacing clutch 'n stuff - pull engine?

Make sure the clutch alignment tool slides in and out easily(effortlessly),the clutch plate can be off to one side a little bit and even though the tool will go in,you'll play hell with getting the trans in.
