I say go for it if you work the finances out. But like anything else i would spend the extra to get the car I wanted (Turbo 6 speed low mileage) rather then buy a ragged out version.
And to those that say they wont spend 20k on a 10 year old toyota you are an idoit...so if it says lexus that...

Ill quick take a look but I do not think the 2jz has a metal head gasket from the factory.
EDIT - I am incorrect, the 2j does have a metal headgasket.
IJ - I coulda swore in another thread you recommended the OEM style composite gasket on cars that were only shooting for the mid 300's for horsepower? And I also remember seeing you or some of the other OG's on here saying the OEM gasket properly torqued will last for quite a long time without...
Here is a vid of my car. exhaust is DDP to 2.5" straight pipe exhaust. The car is loud but it is not bad in the car. there are certain gears/speeds where it drones, on the highway 65-75 mph it seems just a slight bit louder the factory system.

Rather then argue about motor size why not just take some measurements on the turbo. inducer/exducer etc. A diesel turbo is not "different" from a gas turbo and most diesel turbos from semi's that I have seen (my grandfather owns a repair shop) are about T66 sized.
semi's make about 450 hp...
As I understand it, the boost sensor signal only goes to the boost gauge, so the ECU is unaware that the motor is cold and you are boosting it based on boost pressure alone. It may use the AFM signal but I think that is pretty unlikely.
