nice! im gonna bump the boost up when the track opens. want to make one 10 second pass and running closer to 30psi will make that alot easier lol
do you have plans to cage the car? pretty sure under 10 you need a full cage and not just a roll bar. im still iffy on putting a roll bar in my car...
yeah you need to bead roll your intercooler pipes. i was getting boost leaks on higher boost till i did that at all joints. harbor freight has a nice bead roller that worked really good on mine. i used some angle iron bolted to the end to keep the rollers from spreading. besides doing that its...
it really depends on what you want to do with the car. ive run both the 3.90 and 3.73 in my car and i like the 3.90 better. reason being when at autox i like to be able to bog 2nd and the 3.90 helps there keeps me from having to put it in 1st then go back to 2nd loosing time. also at drags with...
yeah its a rush for sure. a very addicting rush lol. you want to slip the clutch some but not too much or you'll burn it up. the w58 is weak but not that weak from what ive seen. you have to be more careful once over 400whp with them im pretty sure. and i mean like whatever rpm you hit peak...
wish our drag strip was still open lol!
i can give you a couple tips. first depending on the side wall of your street tires air them down. my 255/40/17 rs3's like 25psi at the drag strip. if its a lower profile tire try 30psi. you just dont want them at autocross pressures thats for sure...
^thats crazy i can't believe you've had such great luck with that fx400 its awesome! if it can hold up to drag racing then id say thats the best option out there for a r154 car for power holding vs price. doing a burnout to heat tires then clutch slip for launch then pulling through all 4 gears...
i cant really see the and stock pressure plate holding 500wtq unless you just do highway pulls. even then though if you like to brake boost its gonna rape that clutch. and drag racing would kill it even faster. its worth a try though i guess for just 300 bucks. let us know how it holds up. i had...
sounds like a solid setup. you have done everything there is to do to help the 7m's oiling issues. the only factor i can see is your bearing clearances. typically the general rule of thumb is 10psi per 1000rpm will keep an engine happy. if your clearances were closer to .001 on the tighter side...
i have the os giken ts2cd in my car. its very street friendly, has pretty high torque holding capability basically all the r154 can handle, and both disk are sprung so its little easier on things. its for a jz though so idk if you'll be able to find one for the 7m anymore. i got mine of...
ouch.......you gotta slip the clutch a little not just dump it cause that shock loads the shit out of everything. but the drag strip and sticky tires does seem to destroy stuff i bent the snap ring that holds the 1-2 hub in place cause i had a bad habit of missing 2nd then once it was in dumping...
daaaaam thats pretty crazy. nobody's ever really got hurt at our track thankfully. thats sucks you have to go so far to race too. thats how it is for me to get to a dyno that has a tuner familiar with 2jz's. im like a 10min drive from my place to ours so i drive there on my drag radials dont...
hahaa yeah those rules are pretty old by now based of when oem cars were much slower and less safe. id think whatever track you go to will let you make a couple passes full tilt to see where you're at. you could say you want to know how fast it is to see how far you have to go with safety...
i thought its 10-11.5 for a roll bar then under 10 cage. i could be wrong though. i do know 11.5 is the cut off for no roll bar though cause they told me i can only run under it a couple times or i have to let off if i want to run more :(
11.5 was my goal though so i was happy. now im like id...
yeah from what ive seen the auto cars run significantly faster in the 1/4 between the 60fts from leaving off the trans brake and less shifts. drag racing with a manual is definitely challenging. id like to make a couple 10 second passes but anymore than that id need a roll bar which i don't...
for a stock turbo bpu 7m car i like the following mods....
intake
turbo back exhaust
boost controller plus 2 washer behind wastegate to help boost fade
afpr
wideband
then back the screw out on the afm housing or take it out completely which will allow you to run 12psi without boost cut. you...
not really i ran 11.4 the first time i went to bracket racing day when they really prep the track and i had a boost leak that day was only on 20psi. i ran at the street legals and was trapping 126 but that was spinning in 1st and some of 2nd cause people are dumbasses and drive through the water...
thanks and yeah for sure its a lot of fun! other than at autocross i run wastegate or id prolly fly into a fence lol
have you made any passes in your car? curious how much the auto drops times.
