Show at Spanish banks, Vancouver, May 1st

Anyone going to this? Put on by the local 510 crew, as I understand it. I'll probably try to make it out, why not? :)

    Tires

R compound tires help a lot towards this... as long as the road surface and the tires are reasonably warm and smooth, I can keep third gear planted at 570hp. And they corner like nothing else, drag radials aren't in the same class. Last summer I ran a set of Kumho V.70s, they were...

    Maft Pro capabilities

It's more important to get one that your tuner is happy with than it is to do the full feature / price comparison. Motec is one of the better ones, but unless you've got a Motec tuner handy, it's less than useless. So, find a local tuner that you're happy with, then buy what they recommend.

    Tires

Falken RT615 are the best I've tried that last more than a season.

I wouldn't use a piggyback at that level. That's going to be 4x the stock levels, which means you're scaling maps meant for 200 hp to four times their original purpose. You're going to be *much* better off getting a system that allows a tuner to load a map built for 800hp from the start.

drag setup. wiring in the alternator

It needs to be setup so that the kill switch separates the parts producing power - the battery and alternator - from the parts using power - the ecu, etc. One of the tests that the track inspection guys like to try is flipping your kill switch with the engine on. If it shuts off, you're good...

Cooking help for the noob on the go

Yes, those are potatoes. They aren't really grilled, I'm just using the grill to bake them. Wash, wrap them in tinfoil with the shiny side in, make sure there's at least two layers everywhere. Put them on the top rack or indirect heat for about an hour, or until you can squeeze them and they...

Keeping everything chilly mac: Is this overkill?

Do you have the exhaust manifold heat shields? Including the little one up front between the manifold and the 90 degree hose?

    2jzul8r sold ?

It would cost you at least double to build that from scratch. Probably triple. I've always been a fan of buying someone else's finished project - even if you inherit some problems, you'll still come out ahead.

You can build a grill in the back yard with $20 worth of stuff. Stack cinderblocks into an open box shape with no front. Throw an old oven grill over the top, and you're done. Cook over wood or charcoal.

    Rebuilt 1JZ won't accelerate properly

As for the damper, it's worth replacing if you still have the stock unit, and a new one from ATI isn't expensive. I've seen quite a few of the original ones fail by now, they just aren't mean to last 20+ years.

$20k, and still on the market, according to the thread on SF: http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?564103-quot-2JZUL8R-quot-For-Sale-or-Trade/page2

    Drag Setup Proposal

There is a difference between weight transfer and squat. It's subtle, but it's there. Ideally you want to adjust your rear suspension so you get the max contact patch at max squat... but then it's useless for driving anywhere but on the track, so it's kind of a catch 22 situation. Unless you...

It's tough to find a buyer at a higher price like that. On the other hand, anyone looking to build a car like that is WAY better off to buy one already done.

Supra vs Ford GT on Forum Wars

I agree, there. Cars are very similar in weight / power levels - I'm willing to bet that both of 'em are limited by traction - and everything else being even, the guy with no turbo lag will usually win. Non turbo cars tend to have more power under the curve. Still, I hate the foregone...

Well, kind of. One thing I've noticed about Mexican food that most people pass over is the temperatures. In American cuisine, essentially it's all one temperature - and that's usually hot. In Mexico, on the other hand, there is some significant skill to mixing temperatures... Take...

Different spices go with different foods, of course. You'll learn which ones work well over time. There's a few must haves that I always keep around. Basil and celery seed for tomato based sauces. Sage for poultry. Oregano for veggies. Garlic for everything - I buy ground garlic, because...

Crazy problems after GTE swap.. Coolant/Gas in Oil..

Can't be the turbo. Any CT unit that's in bad enough shape to let coolant into the oil would be extremely obvious, and entirely unworkable. As in, wouldn't spin at all, and would likely be spraying coolant and oil all over the engine bay. Yes, the vacuum line from the FPR would be full of...
