on semis they block off the pipes cuz past them there is pretty much nothing to leak besides the intake manifold gasket- and if that is leaking you could see oil leaks where boost is escaping. on a semi if there is a boost leak its the intercooler 95% of the time or one of the two big intake...

i had the same problem with the valve cover gaskets, so i threw away the phillips screws and bought new 6mm (i think) bolts with lock washers, tightened them down and never had them go loose, it seems the toyota rubber washers go hard within time and let the bolts go loose
