Ordered the retaining plate from Technico last night.
Today i pulled a driveshaft from another motor that was laying around, turns out this one has some damage on it as well. One of the other 7m's i have laying around doesnt show any play in the shaft so i'm very curious as to what is causing...
I've noticed that as well Andrew, I purchased this engine fully built assembled and have never opened the bottom so not sure whats going on down there just yet.
Thanks for the link as well, that looks like a great option over stock.
Notice how the timing belt is hanging off the pulley by about 1/2"?
The driveshaft retainer plate has worn through causing the shaft to have 1/2" of play in and out the block.
Heres a crappy video showing the play in the shaft.
I swear this car is cursed, or just flat out hates my guts.
I'm on the verge of solving my electrical gremlins and this shit happens.
Not really sure what to do about this, engine is fresh built with maybe 5k miles on it.
Full rebuild with all new bearings at the bare minimum i suspect.
Long overdue update:
Havent really done too much with the Supra lately. I've been struggling with electrical issues.
Plus since I got my BRZ the supra has been put on the back burner. Not a lot of funds for 2 money pits.
The engine bay harness with the fuse box will be getting replaced, I...
The frs/brz and supra are such different cars but in some ways the frs/BRZ is soooo much more fun to daily than a mk3.
Fortunately I was able to keep my supra and get a brz. Best of both worlds!
Are you planning on going to tx2k15 this year? I'll be driving down in my Brz for tx2k and the Texas...
FP relay gets switched on by the COR (circuit opening relay) that's in the passenger kick panel.

Brown clip is for a vsv solenoid, plug should be hanging down there unless its been broken off. Coolant line attaches to the underside of the lower intake manifold runners right near the flange to the head. Theres coolant run through the throttle body so just follow the lines.
Leigh I thought u sold the supra, glad to see you're still sliding it.
Have you double checked the wideband a/f to insure it's accurate?
Don't forget about the timing changes the safc will make cuz it thinks its at a lower load than it actually is. Maybe this could be affecting the spool?
OP you should update this thread with the fix if you've figured out the problem.
So many problem threads with no solutions posted.
Hopefully you got the issue figured out. :)
Looks like a shim to me. I had to deal with that shit on my old 92. The shop that did the gasket for the previous owner installed it on there.
No idea how a shim is supposed to seal against the block but whatever.
