    Kick me in the Teeth

Hey Joe, glad to see you stop by for a visit. Sad to hear about the trials in your life. You'll come out on top in the end, though, and adversity shows us what we are capable of. Always liked your taste in cars, even with the 1J fixation. ;)

Actually, it looks pretty straightforward, with the exception that the installation docs don't list throw bearing to pressure plate freeplay clearance. That's on my list of things to ask the guys at Clutchmasters when I talk to them this week.

So, progress so far: - Transmission pulled - Clutch disassembled - Flywheel pulled (OMG, this is SO MUCH EASIER with air tools!!!) - ARP flywheel bolts cleaned, threads in crank chased - Measurements made for release bearing spacer

Clutch disc melted to flywheel??? Southbend/R154

I've seen all kinds of single disc clutches do this. I've seen lots of methods for un-sticking them, most common seems to be waiting until it's nice and cool, then starting the car in gear with the clutch in.

    The Mistress

I was considering this Clutchmasters unit, the RPS carbon / carbon, and the Tilton triple plate. It really came down to delivery time... Tilton was a possible 6 month waiting list, RPS was 4-6 weeks minimum, and the guy at Clutchmasters got this shipped, to my door, INTERNATIONAL, in 2 days flat.

Steel flywheel. I'll definitely keep everyone posted on how it drives. Rumor has it the thing acts like a switch, either on or off, but I figure you get used to what you have.

    The Mistress

So, after the usual Saturday night BBQ, some of the crew stuck around and helped start pulling the tranny. Including one of the girlfriends! I should have taken a picture of her hands... she was solid black grime to the elbows, with fancy nails sticking out at the ends! :) Everything is...

    ***SM Member Horsepower List***

If by treachery, you mean I've been outside working on my car instead of editing lists for you guys, then sure, I guess. If you look back at the history, you'll notice this list has occasionally gone MONTHS without being updated. Five days isn't even worth mentioning.

Trust me when I say that, while you may be a significant addition to the sarcasm here, you're not all of it! :)

    Looking at a Porsche 944s

Evidently you've never heard of the Rule of Porsche. The Rule of Porsche: Any Porsche with a 4 in the model sucks. Any model with more than one 4 in the model is a money pit worse than a boat. There is a single exception to the Rule, the 928 S4. No, I'm not kidding.

    Diagnosing fuel supply problems

So, I've been running out of fuel at high power, (over 500hp) and starting to run lean. Not lean enough to be *bad*, but lean enough to make me concerned. So, I start digging. And I keep digging, going through all kinds of trouble, and checking all kinds of things. A fair number of decent...

    Digi dash connectors

KPH to MPH is easier done outside the cluster, just buy a converter box with the right ratio. Of course, there is a limited market for that, as the USA is close to the last place on the planet still clutching fearfully at the screwball Imperial measurement system that makes about as much sense...

    Digi dash connectors

I have two of the digi dash units - one disassembled, one assembled. Never have managed to get my grimy mitts on the fuel sender, and I only have the speedo cable box for one. I was hoping Stretch would end up with a case he could mass produce, and I'd pester him into making me one. I have a...

Installing ARP studs without removing head?

One at a time. Many folks will disagree with touching them at all. Nobody will advise loosening them all, then tightening them - or at least, they had damn well better not, because that's a quick way to kill a gasket for sure.
