I'm not a facebook member, so I can't see the link. It sounds similar to fuel cut, but is it always at that speed only? Does it happen in other gears at certain RPM?
The easy way to check the starter is to remove the battery cable from the starter. Pull the plug from the wiring harness out of the clip, and touch the battery cable to the connector in the starter. If the starter is good, it will spin. No need to try to start the car while under there. And no...
It very rare to see someone who knows how to parallel park! Very nice 240.
I wouldn't think laying under the car spraying aresol would be a good idea. I'd love to know the answer to this myself, so I will stay tuned.
Here is a video of the leak. Lighting is not very good at all, but you can see the spray if you try at the beginning. It is just below the exhaust manifold. I can't see the pipe, but I can reach down there and stop the flow. It feels like the pipe has some sort of collar on it, maybe for a bolt...
I gave him my old Frankenstein shell last week. It will take a bunch of work, but he has most of what it will take to get back to what he had. We all want him to have that again.
Did you leave the hood popped? Sounds like they grabbed what they could in quick fashion. Some thieves are thieves of opportunity. They may not have left the house looking to steal something, but if they saw the hood popped, it was easy prey, or an invitation so to speak. Leave it by the street...
OK, things have changed a good bit for the better. It hit me in my sleep where else that coolant could be coming from, and it motivated me to get the turbo off of the car. It hit me that it could be coming from the water pipe wrapping around the block. So, after getting my daughter on the bus...
George has been pretty busy lately and hasn't been posting much. There is a small update. He does now have a new 89 3E5 Red (and a few other colors) shell. I am not sure of a time line on it, because he is working on the 92 lately, but most of this car will come back to life. We'll have to wait...
It's possible that there was a Manual Boost Controller there. Either hook it back up like stock as said, or find a cheap MBC to hook back into it. If you are missing a boost controller, those hoses you do have are probably hanging loose at the other end.
In this case, I am being told that it spins fine and has very little play at all. As long as it is as described, it sounds like it should be OK.
Thanks for the response Jon! What would you flush with?
I am about to receive a CT-26 from a JDM motor. Given the unknown history of these JDM motor, and unaccountable time in a junk yard, should I trust this turbo? He says that it has very minimal shaftplay, which is normal. Should I be worried about bearings or seals?
I will definitely be dry...
My votes go to 67 or 69 Fastback. I had 4 coupes in my teens, starting with 2 67's, a 66, and a 65. I love a 67, but the 69-70 fastbacks have always been my favorite.
